Discussion in 'Real Life Stories' started by tjs65, Feb 1, 2009.

  1. I had this thought after smoking a personal. I'm thining about publishing a book of diary entries (written while high) i did back when i was 16, and how marijuana has had such a positive influence on me. I'm wondering if you guys think i should go for it or if its no worth it. The entries will consist of (not in order yet):
    1. My Life - talkig about my insecurity, the trouble I got in for trying to be somebody
else, and the effect that it has had on my family and me.
    2. Love - Just my two cent on the four letter word
    3. Friends - My P.O.V. on friendship and trust
    4. Marijauna - How marijuana helped me relieve alot of things and helped me in many ways.
    5. My Generation - I come from a predominantly black neighborhood and it was very wild when i was 16. I mean girls pregnant in middle school, teens dying and their murders were other teens, theis night club for teens where all they do is volgar dancing and fight, ect.
    6. Religion
    7. Sex & Pornagraphy
    8. Music - the effect rap has had on me

Do you have any suggestion on anything i should do?

Maybe I should just pick one topic and go from their?

Maybe I should leave a topic out?

Should I use a pseudonym (don't want to mess up any job oppertunities)

  2. Dude, just WRITE. Dont even think about it, you can edit later. Ive always wanted to do something like this but got too lazy :p

  3. go for it

  4. Haha that sounds like Arlington, Texas lol

But yeah man go for it, but don't call it Diary of a Stoned Teenager, trust me.

And yes use a pseudonym. If it receives widespread acclaim or something you can always show that you wrote it, then there is fame.

  5. deffinetly do it dude. just type everything up and mail it to an editor or two. im sure if you send it to enough people they will publish it. then we can start getting the word out a little more.

  6. sorry to be "that guy," but nobody other than yourself really cares about your personal thoughts and insecurities enough to read an entire book of stoned ramblings

  7. Well, I disagree; I've been reading stoner stories for the last couple of hours throughout this forum. Some are really cool, some are really stupid. But my point is that I'm stoned as hell, reading stories about stoners that they wrote while stoned.... and it rocks!

Actually, Im gonna start a thread with a story by myself before the buzz fades...

Oh! and yes! You should definatly write that book!! GO GO GO!

    happy tokes!

  8. Yeah that's kind of true. I've seen a lot of these on this forum. And i enjoy a very small portion of them. If they are well-written and interesting, then you might have some success. But most of them, while interesting for the writer, leave the reader bored.

every stoned lightweight teenager who has some "revelation" about life when they're high think that their lame stories are revolutionary masterpieces because they're blasted out of their skulls.

I like stories too, but only when they're interesting and not some half-baked pseudo intellectual thesis on how religion is the downfall of society, or the fascinating story of how difficult it is to grow up in suburbia with overbearing parents.

Sorry if I'm coming down hard, but its shit like this that perpetuates the already offensive "pothead" stereotype, we have to earn our respect from the rest of the world, and this is precisely what keeps setting us back.
