Diabetes and marijuana

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by tokin_it_up, Apr 20, 2008.

  1. My brother is diabetic and wants to try marijuana. I have no idea if this will have any negative side effects. I only say that because I have read on some websites selling legal herbal smokes that people with diabetes shouldn't smoke them. Does anyone know if weed is ok, and why he shouldn't smoke herbal smokes? Thanks in advance

and 2 hours and 55 minutes until i light up :smoking:

  2. It isn't that the weed is bad, but it leads to excessive eating, and if all you got is carbs/sugar goods or anything with glucose, thats when it sucks. My Dad had to stop recently because he has type two diabetes, and he found his bloodsugar was off the roof.

  3. Well, he has an insulin pump and can input the amount of carbs and it tells him how much insulin to take. But if he's blazed i doubt he'll remember to do that haha

  4. weed's good for you. Lowers blood & occular pressure.
I got Dr. rec from it. :)

  5. Thanks alot everybody, he had a great 420 :)

  6. one of my friends has diabetes and he smokes just to control his diet because he says it actually helps him monitor how much he eats.

  7. Hemp oil is incredibly good for moderating diabetes, and smoked marijuana is good for diabetes as well, but not to the extent of hemp oil.

  8. my family has a crazy history of diabetes on my fathers side. they're litterally all diabetic minus myself and my brother. our doctors told us that if we ever get fat we'll develop diabetes quickly. he's skinny and i'm a gym rat (when i'm healthy, i took 7 months off when i had surgery on my ear :/) we both know we gotta stay fit and we'll be straight with the history of diabetes. that being said, we both smoke multiple times daily. neither of us really get "munchies" anymore. that being said, however, if i start eating something delicious or drinking water i do find that i'll have more of a tendency to gorge than normal (i'm about 200 lbs and i'm 5'7". i'll be 210 by the end of the summer if i dont get injured.) i'm not sure if my weed smoking and my impending risk of diabetes have any effect on eachother whatsoever.

i do eat less when i dont smoke
    i will say that.
but so long as you arent eating junk
    thats not a bad thing.

  9. I have been wondering the same thing since my father was recently diagnosed with diabetes, so i am officialy AT RISK. Any one have info on this?
