If your just doing one or two plants i would just grab a bag of good soil and a bag of perlite. Avoid the garbage they sell at box stores and go to a hydro shop or real garden store for quality soil. Mixing your own is great and all but many people dont have a need for 6 cubic feet of soil or the desire to run their own compost center.
