Is it possible to determine sex at three weeks? Also, I see people posting very clear extreme closeup pictures of their plants. How can I do this with a digital camera?
Okay, here is a picture of a three week old plant. I tried to zoom in as best as I could. I put a 15X loupe in front of my digital camera lens. I'm kind of thinking these might be male preflowers or I might just be seeing things.
They look like ladies to me. If anything it might be hermie, I'd let it grow a bit more before I started worrying though.
hard to tell but you could be right. you'll probably know for sure with the nekkid eye in another week. oh, i was thinking these were already on 12/12, but you didn't say that so maybe it will be longer before you know with the nekkid eye...
oh, i've never had one show sex that early. if you put them on 12/12 now they will probably show within 2-3 weeks but then if you want to grow them bigger before flowering you'll need to go back to 24/7 for awhile and the plant will waste a couple weeks being confused probably.
'Sup deuteros . when u look at it with your 15x magnifier, do you see 2 wispy white "hairs" coming from the preflower. Pic one almost looks like theres pistils but again It'll be apparent in another week. Pray to the ganja gods and they might bless you . be patient my friend, she'll/he'll show soon enough. peace, e
I could see any hairs but the plants are only three weeks old. Do female flowers always show hairs when they first emerge?
That looks to be a female it looks like another set of leaves starting. I don't know what the are called but the hair looking things that are between the leaf branch and the stem. That can help to ID the sex. I read in the growers handbook a.k.a. "the bible" that if they are crossed they are male and pointing up or out they are female. Crossing I mean like an x and pointed up can be slightly cross but not completely. I have used this way for years and eather I'm lucky or it's right. This year out of all the sprouts (12) 2 were male and I put those aside and was correct in the ID. I will try to find a link to what I'm talking about.
