Democrats: Who can unseat Trump?

Discussion in 'Politics' started by VikingToker, Jul 5, 2018.

  1. Since we can't seem to shut the fuck up about him - let's try to look for someone else. The left has no strategy, as we speak.

Who is the strongest contender to defeat the reigning champion? Beyond time to get that ball rolling Edit: in 2020 of course, and with my prediction that he'll win standing

  2. I don't feel like they will gather their best come 2020..... I feel like most presidents get a second term, and political might is better spent on elections without an incumbent. However, if they play their best cards.......

I am not a democrat but..............

    Eric Holder
    Michele Obama
    Oprah
    Andrew Cuomo
    Bernie
    Elizabeth Warren
    Kamala Harris

The only person on that list I see having a chance is Michele Obama.

  3. Yeah, I don't disagree with that. Even though B. Obama is no longer percieved as black jesus, and the whole dynasty thing is creepy, I think she has all the right stuff to be a solid contender. The rest I dunno, and I think it's too late for the ol' Feel the Bern, he's been revealed as a weak man who will roll over and submit to corrupt power.

I throw my long-time favorite in the ring, he's an unknown, but he's earned his nickname:

looks like he was designed in an all-american laboratory

Brian "The Greatest Living American" Stann, were he to run as a left-leaning independent, would smash aside Trump, I think. He's the perfect counter to the Trumpian style, and well deserving of your adulation and support. He wouldn't run, though, which is the problem with all the Great Americans. Such an embarrassment of riches of the world's sharpest and finest, and yet they shy away from politics, for damn obvious reasons

  6. Trump will defeat Trump 1 derogatory tweet & word at a time... throw in a few "stable genius" comments about himself like "nobody is more anti-racist than i am" or "only i can fix it" as well of course.

But whoever it is, apparently the person just needs a name that is well known, perhaps a former competition faux reality TV host, actor, comedian... it would also be refreshing to see an actual businessman who made it on his or her own and has a history demonstrating an altruistic nature... in other words they care more about the good of the collective society rather than their own or that of their cronies...

In other words an actual charismatic populist the majority could respect and get behind... shouldn't be difficult considering HRC carried the popular vote by some 3 million.

  8. My cousin SmokinJoe Biden is the obvious choice.

@VikingToker I like Brian Stann as well, he was a great fighter and has done some honourable work for veterans since but I doubt very much he would enter the race. He seems too smart for that shit.

  9. Not progressive enough IMO. A strong progressive candidate with clear policies that can avoid the mudslinging and stick to the REAL issues that the majority of working Americans care about will mop the floor with Trump's hair.

  11. Sorry man, the progressive movement is dead. The democrats helped by derailing crazy Bernie’s chances, and the election of President Trump, in spite of their rigging the election, sealed the deal. Now we have a kick ass economy, at capacity employment, and in the works of becoming more self reliant as a nation. The Trump Train will roll over any Progressive on the ballot.

  12. Real wages (wages accounting for inflation) are still not rising. This is a political issue neither party has tangibly addressed. Trumps tax cuts have largely been used for stock buybacks and very little has actually gone to real wage growth. The labor market has continually gotten better over the last 10 years since the crash but wages are still not rising and there will continue to be anger in this country until that is resolved.

The 'supply-and-demand model of labor markets is fundamentally broken,' and that's why you're not getting a pay raise anytime soon

  16. You guys are funny. Instead of actually engaging with the data I present you just cover your ears and launch ad hominems. Why is that real wages haven’t grown in almost three decades? I thought trumps tax cuts were gonna lead to massive wage growth but his own BLS statistics indicate that wage growth has been negligible over the past two years during his presidency and since the tax cut was instituted.

  17. What data have you presented in this thread exactly? Also, I just cover my ears and launch ...... what exactly?

You realize this is a thread about who will run against Trump, not about tax cuts right?

Please stop with the personal attacks please.

  18. A lot of this is caused by over taxing and over regulating of business. And yes corporate greed as evidenced by ceo salaries and net profits. But those with the drive to succeed instead of complain, can do quite well. I’m 36, grew up in a shitty trailer park. My wife and I had our first son when she was 15 and I was 17. I’ve been self employed since 19. The road has been hard but we both are as successful as we want to be, despite our setbacks and NO college degrees.
I’ve been battling stage 3 colon cancer for about a year and a half, still running my construction business despite being 30 lbs under weight and two rounds of chemo, radiation, and surgery. I wear the tool belt too, not just a salesman.
Success is there for those that want it bad enough

  19. It seems your deep in Trump land and deaf on the movement taking place at the moment. It's ok, you're not alone, but in less then 24 months it will become more apparent to you.

    Here's a teaser:

  20. Lol. I KNEW you would post about your little socialist queen. She won in down state NY. That’s like a conservative win in Texas buddy. Not a sign of what’s to come.
