Delta 8 causing headspin and nausea, but no high?

I bought a pack of Delta 8 edible strips, which is legal in my state, to help me sleep. It was very high in D-8 content, so I took only 1/4 of a strip (about 100mg) before going to sleep. Then I realized that 100mg is four times what I took last time (a different brand D-8 chewable gummies). But it was too late. I got completely wiped out, woke up at 2am panicked with anxiety, stayed up all night and generally had a very lousy time. I am not sure if I got "high" or not, but any such effect was completely masked by nausea, head spinning etc.. Any positive effects disappeared by morning, but the light-headedness and nausea lingered for another three days. Assuming this was due to the high dose, next time I took a super tiny piece, which by my estimate was 1/25th of the strip (at most 20mg). This time I didn't wake up in the middle of the night, nor experience any "high", but I woke up the next morning head spinning and nauseated, which took the same three days to wear off. I am totally confused what is going on. I have taken D-8 edible before, and never experienced anything like this.
