Defoliation.

  1. 1st time grow 5th week veg almost 6th. Am I trimming too much? Mostly removing fan leaves that are in the way of bud sites. The before pic I was gone for 3 days for X mas but defoiliated the same way before I left. After pic is what i just trimmed. Same as when I left but major growth I think? Ive been staking then out for girth and have been topping regularly. My space is 4x8 and i have 2 Spider Farmer SF-4000'S. There super healthy I think. Thoughts on what im doing wrong or right? Also do I keep everything tied down untill the harvest? Thanks growmies! 20191227_141648.jpg 20191227_141614.jpg 20191227_143925.jpg 20191227_172304.jpg 20191227_172335.jpg

  2. Sounds and looks like you are on the right track to me. I just did my first defoliation ever on the indoor today. Learning as I go.

  3. 1 more ? Im growing Durban Poison and Sour D. Anybody have previous experience with these strains and whats the stretch length after I switch to flower? I have been training and keeping them low to grow them wide before i switch for even canopy. Want about 5 footers. Thanks for replies!

  4. Durban is a sativa ( although it has probably been dutched). I believe SD has a dominant sativa content as well. I would expect some stretch!

  5. I know as I love sativa! Started from seed with these strains i picked. Triple? Double height? I can get pretty close they say with the lights i have. Im at 24"now.

  6. Sativas can triple,,more so if its pure landrace,,u should be good with the proper training man

  7. I've had every indoor run at least triple in size and height during flower, this run not one of the 6 plants were over 12in at switching to flower, 11 days in and I've had to tie over almost every top and branch due to streaching. Filling in my room well though.

  8. Thanks bud. Do you have any pics of any of your runs before switch to get an idea? These are mine today after a little defoliation and LST last night. I have been training since early veg and tommorow is the start of 6 weeks veg. Im keeping them low and topping regularly. There only about 8-10 inches now. Trying to get the width spread out before flipping in 2 weeks. Thanks for any advise! Happy growing! 20191227_172351.jpg 20191227_151928.jpg

  9. 20191213_091126.jpg this was 3 days before I switched to flower, a bit of defoliation and cleanup done. 20191225_111356.jpg and 12 days later this is what they looked like. Switch was on the 16th of Dec just 12 days ago. There now at the point of filling the room, did some mass defoliation on both pineapple strains, those are just experimental plants at this point. I have 2 pineapple skunk, 3 NL hybrid and a mystery purp sativa also going.

  13. I'd defliate after flip. If you're doing it before you're just wasting solar panels to grow and make the jump. Idea of defoliation is to let light penetrate to the bud sites.
