  2. I had always grown in soil. Was always under the impression hydro was for experts due to it's level of difficulty. I finally set up a small 3.5 gallon bubble bucket DWC and my first plant was the biggest yield I have had yet at 1,030 grams wet(Mephisto Genetics Sour Crack believed to be a strain record) ! I currently have another plant going(BombSeeds Cherry Bomb) and she is going to be even bigger. My advice is you must have the basic tools ie a Ph meter and a PPM/EC meter. Keep your nutes simple. I am using the General Hydro Flora line of Grow, Micro and Bloom plus Cal/Mag. I have read of too many newbies starting out with up to 9 different nutes and end up with a stunted messed up plant and have no idea what caused it. As for water either store bought RO/Di water or pick up a cheap $70.00 RO/DI filter. I have seen a number of new hydro growing fight hard water problem using tap water.

A DWC set up is more work, at least for me. I check solution ph, PPM and solution levels twice a day 12hrs apart. I also top off water and nutes at those times. Regardless of the extra effort the work is very rewarding.

  3. I went from hydro to organic soil and then back to hydro. I'm staying hydro now.
Lotsa little tricks to learn as with anything new. My best advice...keep it simple and ask for help in these forums when needed.
    Good luck

Hey HH i have done soil grows myself ,i switched to hydro at first i delt with ph pens,up and down liquids etc i did also get a pretty good yield as well(Blue Cheese) but i got tired of doing the ph stuff so i changed my entire nutrients line to the Advanced Nutrients line found ph perfect base nutes to kill my frustration of ph swings, now i have even more bigger yield then my last I really like the lineup they have ,it's really easy to do i also have a bubble bucket system(Dwc) D.A.N.com for cheaper AN Nutes Hope this helps you

  6. I did soil first, and learned a lot, but I got tired of the critters, and moving all that soil. When I went to Hydro, I was so amazed at the growth, that I never looked back. Even tho I still carry water, I love the science of it all. It feels real good to know you have all the factors within the bell curve for the best product that can be achieved with your own particular setup.
