Decarbing Cannabis Smell

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by UltraMAGA420, Apr 9, 2023.

  1. I want to decarb some cannabis flower to make a homemade topical, but I have kids at home and I also live in am illegal state. Will the decarb process in the oven make my house smell like weed?

  2. It will smell like weed all day and even longer for the oven.

  3. If its a one time thing then a trusted family member or friend who may have the space and lack of children would solve your problem

  4. Do it when you have the house to yourself all day/night. A rare occasion I imagine.

  5. I guess killing the kids isn't an option.

  6. Would using something like a LEVO II solve the smell issue? Or would it still be a thing?

  7. I have an Ardent FX and even that leaves a little smell
But you can put it in a room with a window and door and use a venting fan to remove the smell
If you did it late night it would probably go undetected

  8. Yes your house will smell, I don't know what LEVO II is though.

  9. it only takes like 20 minutes to cook.

  10. Use two turkey oven bags. I fold the open end over and tie it off with a piece of strings. one bag does a good job, two is perfection. Tie off one bag then place it in the second and tie off.

take outside to open, it will stink when you open the bag. Decarb a few minutes longer than usual, the bag will trap a bit of moisture, the extra time will make a difference.

  11. I always de-carb in mason jars. I don't ever notice any smells doing it that way. I'm sure a little escapes as the air in the jar expands, but not enough to really have a bunch of smell. I do it because it's easier than lugging my carbon filter into the kitchen. I do it in the summer as well because our doors are open. It's literally the way to go.

If you're really worried, dice up some garlic and throw it in some oil in a pan and put it in too. Low temperature cooked garlic is delicious and would cover any bit of smell if there was any.

  12. How long do you decarb in a sealed mason jar and at what temp?

  13. Cook some cabbage & salmon on the stovetop, that should cover the smell while cooking, gas afterward.

  14. I would put the jar with the cannabis in it into the oven while it preheats to 240F . Once it reached 240F I would leave it for 40 minutes then remove from the oven.
