Decarb tincture question

Discussion in 'Experienced Cannabis Enthusiasts' started by Moondingo, Dec 30, 2019.

  1. So I had about 1.5 oz left over from my 2018 harvest and decided to try my hand at an alcohol extraction. Got some rectified spirts that was supposed to be 96%, but is only 75%(tagged incorrectly) and I also had not heard of decarbing. So I ground it all up and put it in 20 oz of spirit. So has my bud been around long enough to have already decarb naturally or did I fuck it up? And can I un fuck it up.

  2. It will naturally decarb in four months. Keep in a dark, room temperature, cabinet. In all likelihood your cannabis was not totally decarbed. You can try it and see what you think. You're probably going to want to reduce your 20 ounces to something more concentrated. How much to reduce is personal preference.

  3. Had it for so long already the extra time don’t hurt at all if it means it’s done right. I did twenty thinking weaker alcohol at 2 grams an ounce but when she’s ready might try a controlled evap. Thanks for the response.

  4. Quick after thought, if I try to concentrate the solution, I’m thinking best thing to do is place the jar with the mix in a pot of heated water. What temp should I have the water at, 170f? And for how long to concentrate by the liquid ounce.

  5. A water bath will work, or just strain out the weed and let it sit in a wide mouth open container and evaporate naturally.

  6. Ah yes, KISS methodology.... always seems to elude me. Open jar makes more sense. Already in for the long haul on this science project anyway.
