Decarb Question

Discussion in 'Cannabis & Weed Edibles: Cooking & Recipes' started by Nematode128, Dec 29, 2019.

  1. So I plan on decarbing a gram of shatter I got from the dispensary and on the back of the package it says THC: 68.99% THCA 75.81%. after decarb, will my shatter have 689mg or 758mg? Is there a loss when thca converts to thc?

As you may know, the plant-made versions of the major cannabinoids, sometimes called cannabinoid acids, need to be “decarbed”, or decarboxylated, before they can assume their full active effects. This decarboxylation is why it’s called a decomposition reaction — one molecule becomes two. In our case, one of these molecules is always CO2, (carbon dioxide being the source for decarboxylate). The other molecule is the “active” or “neutral” cannabinoid itself.

The "Loss" is the escaping C02 gas
Use the lower number for the actual active THC.
    689mg of THC.
Hallucinating Hash Capsules for Hemp Heads
Something to use that decarbed gram of shatter in :)

  3. What are you describing in?
I was thinking of using my Nova for shatter.

One of the better things I did was to size the cat food dishes to the Mr. Coffee mug warmer plate.
Took the mug warmer into petco to be sure things fit like I wanted

The last few times we worked with Wax and Rosin I did the decarb in the small dishes right on the mug heater and skipped the toaster oven.

  5. You'd be foolish not to. It's bulletproof.

  6. So is an oven

  7. As far as my experience shows I’d have to agree, my first few ventures into making edible brownies and Fruity Pebbles Krispy Treats have been very well received.
That was using some unimpressive shake I had lying around too. It seems like the decarb process transformed that into next level strength.
The shatter should be a whole nother ballgame.
