  1. I have a few questions about debit cards... I have never owned one and don't know how I go about getting one. Is there any possible way I could set up a bank account online and get a debit card online as well? If I can't set up a bank account online is there anyway I could get a bank account and then get the debit card online? Or is it just as easy to get the debit card from my bank and deal with all that? If I were to set up a bank account, will I have to get a certain debit card for it to work? Thanks for all the help guys.

  2. When you get the bank account they mail you the debit card. Just go to the bank, bring your ID and social security number. They will set up your account and get you the card. A debit card is the same thing as an atm card now.

  3. Dont go to PNC. They take forever to get you youre debit card.

  4. I do not advocate banking online. Im far to paranoid to be donin that online.

Its cake just going to a bank n getting hooked up. I had to wait like 10 minutes before I got called into a cubicle n had to go thru signing all the papers.

I have a ATM/Check card. Meaning its my savings account ATM card, and also my checking account debit card.

They gave me a choice if i wanted to seperate cards yada yada, It was super easy to get a debit card, it was free. the only thing that cost money was the actual checks, which i use to pay bills, although theyre not a nessicary purchase.

**make sure to have the bank person go over what your signing and all the fine print

**including what will happen if you overdraft, or commit bank fraud. (If the bank puts 3k$ in your account by mistake and you take it out and spend it, you could face jail time)

  5. fuck banks, fuck em.

    they're all crooked.

If you really need a debit card, get a green dot card.

  6. lol... I'm 19 and i've been using online banking for 3 years now... but I have a Credit Union, which is like a God-send, they been saving my ass since high school

Anyway, go to Neteller.com, Sign up with them, it's a free account that lets you load money from a regular bank account and they can also send you a Debit card, that you pre-load, and can spend at any stores, online or in person, and you can also use it to withdraw money from atm's.

Green Dot works pretty well too

Good thing about either of those is if you loose your card, or it get stolen it's not connected to your checking account and you only risk loosing the balance you put on there. Even then, you can just cancel the card and have the balance transferred to a new one for like a dollar.

Oh yeah, the Neteller Card is NOT even connected to your Neteller eWallet Account, you transfer money from that account to the card.

So both are pretty much exactly the same: you can use them online, they charge a base fee for ATM use, and both must be pre-loaded. Only difference is one is online-based while the other is done by physical transactions (and probably online as well)
