I'll I can think about when I hear music of this genre is how much it would suck to be a drummer for one of these bands. "Okay, I want you to play straight eighth notes on the snare, on the upbeat of course, and then just get the kick drum on the downbeats - All of them. Play the hi-hat as straight sixteenth notes and just don't stop - OK? GO!"
It's not that it's hard (even though it takes a lot of stamina that wasn't really my point) - it's just boring to play a beat like that for 3 minutes straight. But if other people can get satisfaction from that kind of drumming then that's cool.
Well in that case I don't know what you're referring to, because none of the music like this that I listen to has the same or even similar drum beat for 3 minutes straight.
