they arent really deathcore but they are hardcore haha and they are RAD, thanks for showing me a new band haha =] ima go download them
Eh, anything 'Core' I could never get in to. Norma Jean really turned me off to Deathcore, or hardcore (Not sure exactly what you would call them) so I just never got into the genre. It sounds the same to me, and as a musician I hate being the person to say that but the guitar work is just chuggah chuggah cuggah, etc. Its just droning notes, and its hard for me to get past that technical limitation of the genre. If I found a band that was unique and had its own twist, its own flavor and a nice taste of technicality I think I would enjoy the genre more. No luck in find that band though.
norma jean is hardcore but they SUCK no wonder u couldnt get into the genre, and i play guitar, ive played for just about 5 years now, ur right, alot of the guitar is just chugga chugga breakdown breakdown, but in alot of suicide silences songs they can get pretty technical same with chelsea grin
Yeah I really couldn't stand Norma Jean. I was friends with somebody that loved this style of music, but none of it was any good, it all sounded like Norma Jean, chuggah chuggah, breakdown, etc. I don't care for that. If you can post a song from Suicide Silence that really shines through, I'd be happy to check it out. I'm always open to new bands, even if its a genre I'm pretty sure I won't care for.
hardcore and deathcore have nothing in common either. deathcore = more deathmetal inspired metalcore. slightly more brutal vocals, more double kick pedal, just as much faggy scenester bullshit. hardcore is hardcore punk, deathcore is nothing like it. if you want to discuss hardcore, i have a punk thread on here, its linked to my signature, pretty big thread. lots of youtube videos.
Ah yeah, some old Bring me the horizon Song's called Medusa [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6NXH5diJUE"]YouTube- BMTH - medusa[/ame] and here is Through the Eyes of the Dead songs called The Manifest [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XqFew6jhw0"]YouTube- Through The Eyes of the Dead - The Manifest (New Song!)[/ame]
i already saw your post, there are different classifications of hardcore. your post is the punk hardcore era, im not talking about that lol
to get the vid to show just post the link, and yea, bmth is pretty rad, im not as into them as i used to be, they are kinda too scene haha but they are alright and ive never heard of through the eyes of the dead but ill check em out =]
no, theres a right way, and a wrong way. you've heard people use the term wrong so many times that you just accept it. hardcore is hardcore. edit: not trying to be a dick, just saying...

[/QUOTE] i looove whitechapel and the black dahlia, i saw them both at the summer slaughter tour a few years back, it was brutal
Eh, I've listened to a few of the videos posted so far and I just can't get in to the genre. I don't want to come off sounding like a dick, but the genre as a whole sounds like its still immature, as though it hasen't evolved much over the years. Thats just my take on it though, I know some of you will see differently and thats fine as well. I listened to the first Suicide Silence song posted by the OP, and I didn't care for the lyrics but the instrumentation was not too bad, its just the production was very bad. I like the guitars to be very clear and up front, not distorted and hidden in the mix behind the drums. I'm use to bands with very good production, Dream Theater, Opeth, Porcupine Tree, Devin Townsend, etc, so when I hear music with mixing I don't agree with, I tend to have a much harder time enjoying the music. I hear the guitar work, and I like what I hear but the way its presented in the mix I find unsatisfactory, just my 2 cents.
i think if production makes that much difference in the band, then the band isnt too great. i like bands who sound just as good on their 4-track demo as they do live or on LP.
