Death Metalers?

Discussion in 'Music genres, Bands and Artists' started by PercMyBlastBeat, Sep 22, 2009.

  1. Dude. I'd kill to see Decrepit Birth and TBDM at the same show.
    Eh. Not to much into the black metal stuff.
    There's a few bands I enjoy like Wolven Ancestry, Dark Funeral and Carpathian Forest.
    That's about it though.

  2. Any Partisan Turbine fans?

  3. ^^ Well I had never heard of them, but now I can say I'm definitely not a fan of their piq squeal deathcore.

  4. This thread needs more Nile

  5. THANK YOU. The abundance of non-death metal in this topic is sickening.

    And I can't believe how VERY LITTLE real death metal has been posted. No one even posted the band Death. That's the original. The best shit.

  7. Their not death core, they are just straight up death metal.

  8. That is not death metal man. No offense. It's deathcore. Pig squeal guttural vocals are complete shit.

  9. This is a band that needed much more recognition

    its a good thrash/death mix

  10. Yeah but just because the singer of a band throws a pig squeal in there, doesn't automatically make them deathcore. Pig squealing didn't even start out in deathcore, it started out in death metal.

    trust me dude, I live in LA. I can't get away from hearing about metal sub-genres for a half a second.

  11. that doesnt really sound like death metal to me dude, breakdowns are not metal, the vocals werent too metal. Heres some examples of Death metal and different sounding bands

  12. Actually breakdowns originated from metal. Listen to any of the examples of Death Metal in this thread, most of them have "breakdowns". If you have ever any hardcore you would know it mostly comprises of circle pit riffs and 2 steps.

    And some Beneath the Massacre.

  15. How are breakdowns not metal?
    I've heard many, many different death metal bands have breakdowns.

  16. breakdowns are terrible is what they are, and they didnt originate from metal, its part of basic song structure, like a bridge, or verse. hardcore bands decided to take breakdowns to a whole new extreme of gay. in my opinion i dont think a """"death metal"""" band is playing a hardcore riff, i think that its the hardcore band, playing death metal riffs.

    DEATH METAL = THRASH BASED

    HARDCORE = PUNK

  17. I have heard plenty of breakdowns in death metal, granted, they are not breakdowns the way core bands do them, but breakdowns nontheless.

  18. well if we are talking about what breakdown is suppose to be then yes. even morbid angel does it.

    The difference between hardcore breakdowns and metal breakdowns is that death metal breakdowns are often polyphonic: multiple melodies at one time. Drums, bass and 2nd guitar might play the articulated rhythm while lead guitar plays a lead line. Hardcore breakdowns usually emphasize the main breakdown rhythm. Compare the breakdown at 4:15 in this death metal song:

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dA_KkxruSqg"]YouTube - The Faceless - Xenochrist[/ame]

    to the breakdown at 0:26 in this hardcore song:

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ug7tzIo1MkY]YouTube - Bury Your Dead - "The Color of Money" Victory Records[/ame]

  20. Yep, that's what I was talking about.
