Death by robot horde?

  1. So as we advance as a civilization technology wise, while going no where as a species, a day will come where hyper intelligent beings will exist. Beings that will far surpass us in mental and physical capabilities. We will no doubt employ them to do our work for u,s being a collectively lazy society and all. Now any robot we create that surpasses us in intelligence will obviously have a few fail safes to keep them in line, but then again we created them, and any being of superior intelligence would be very easily able to disable them.

You think we will eventually create an intelligent being that will eventually lead to our doom/enslave us? Seems plausible.

  2. We will merge with the machine. It's the only way to surpass our own limitations.

  3. I also think man and machine will intertwine.

It won't be that long before we'll find a way to download ourselves in a way that could make the idea of Star Trek's transporter seem passé.

We could simply 'move' our consciousness into various machines, either to experience Scuba Diving as a submarine or fly as a Fighter jet, for example, where man and machine are one. At first, our physical body remains safely at home, while our conscious awareness is transferred into the appropriate 'body' for the experience.

But, if we can move our consciousness this way, then we can also download ourselves, copy ourselves, make a continuous backup of ourselves, so that we continue to live life in the physical (which is being maintained and replaced by having copies of our own organs grown from stem cells) or we design better, more interesting versions more suitable for what we need it for. Once there is always a backup, there is no longer anything called physical death anymore.

  4. For all we know humans could already be slaves.

Just as we extract honey from bee hives alien.overlords may be using our society to collect precious metals for them.

Maybe that's where all the.gold went
