Dayum at this 24GB Graphics Card

Discussion in 'Silicon (v)Alley' started by imageek, Mar 22, 2016.

  1. I'm no gamer, so I don't keep ontop of graphics cards, but I just found this beast:

... The comments on Amazon had me in bits!

  2. I remember when 128mb graphics cards were like 500-900 bucks

  3. the tesla your talking about? its for computing power solely ... no video ports.

next best that I know about for gaming would be the amd r9 ???x2

  4. Oh, so this is built for applications that utilize GPU power such as cryptography?

  5. upss I just googled "24gb graphics card" and up came the tesla k80 ( gpu power, non "gaming")... didn't realise its a 2yr old card and missed the most recent one below the NVidia quadro m6000

Nvidia's $5,000, 24GB Quadro M6000 sets a new record for video card memory

haven't read it over yet but sounds good for $5k and it is meant for rendering and gpu power over cpu power so not the best for games but good for renderings, cad, model predictions

  6. For gaming, Titan cards are currently King. With 980ti cards a short jump behind. I mean the 980ti cards with 6gb of ram not the standard Ti card.

  7. Huh? My two EVGA 980Ti's are 6GB GDDR5. Gonna sell them once the GTX 1080's hit the market.

  8. Wow, same here. Crazy how powerful computers are today!

  9. Most of the cards people in here are talking about are workstation cards... typically used for ultra high res workstation needs... IE a computer in a graphic design/video rendering/animation office. These quadro's n shit are not really meant to game on.. they are meant to do hugely intensive workstation processes. Titan X is basically the king of gaming cards ATM.... kinda depends how brand whorey you are tho... most people settle for SLI 980 TI's, slap a few waterblocks on to do liquid cooling and call it a day with an overclock.

  10. Titans are not the king of gaming because gaming doesn't require CUDA computational stuff that Titans haul ass in. In the link I posted the 980 Ti is faster than the Titan X, and the 970, 980 and 780 Ti are all faster than the first Titan

Who's pumped for the upcoming Pascal cards? 4096 bit 3D memory interface, and they're all likely to start at 16GB. momma mia

  11. They are using the 3d transistors now?
