It's about time there's a thread dedicated to one of the best libertarian thinkers out there, David Friedman. Son of the late Chicago school economist Milton Friedman, David goes further than his father and takes his free market ideals to their logical conclusion. I would go as far to say that he's better than Rothbard and other Ancap thinkers of the Austrian school, as in my opinion they relay way too much on deontological rights arguments such as the NAP, and they don'y really convince people who are more than willing to enforce view through coercion. It is best to argue them on a more consequentialist chicago-shool point of view like Friedman does as explaining how their statist policies actually make people worse off. Several books of his are free online for those who are intereted https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgzzDDHI7ew http://www.daviddfriedman.com/The_Machinery_of_Freedom_.pdf http://www.daviddfriedman.com/Laws_Order_draft/laws_order_ToC.htm http://www.daviddfriedman.com/Academic/Price_Theory/PThy_ToC.html
David Friedman is my man! consequentialism > deontology any day of the week imo.Sent from my SCH-I535 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
