SHUT UP DUUUUUDE great, great mixtape. one of the most original hip hop groups ive seen in a long long time. they came out with another mixtape called "sit down man" but i dont think it's as hip-hoppy as their first one, they seem to be getting more commercial nowadays. I've heard their stuff before and some of it is really impressive but som of it isn't. Definitely got a lot of potential in my eyes, a couple of real smart dudes.
I like the beat of the first song on there, but to be honest I don't like their rapping at all. I'd like to see another rapper spit on that beat though.

lol so quick to jump to conclusions.. i guess you gotta learn not to take their shit too seriously, sometimes they call themselves joke rap.. sounds lame but i can feel it. yeah they are very well educated, a lot of their lines are super clever. nutmeg is a good example of a bunch of good punchlines and rhymes, also rainbow in the dark. most original and lyrical artists i've seen in a long, long time. i dont know if i like where they're going with their newer shit but shut up dude had a lot of hip hop originality i didn't really like them much when i first listened to them, but i was sober, and then i got high and listened to one dollar can [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRp3ZDbkVwE]YouTube - Das Racist - One Dollar Can[/ame] all about arizona ice teas.. so good when you got it in a car with a good speaker system and i'm pretty sure you gotta be very high to truly discover the greatness of their music
No I have actually looked pretty deep into them. I don't make judgement until I actually give an artist a shot. I can understand some people liking this, but they don't really have any qualities besides being two college hipsters. And that just comes off as annoying to me. They really aren't my style. I did like the beat in the first song linked though.
They definitly have more qualities than that you are just blind and judgemental. The fact that you gave up on them and already gave them a good ole american label means you think you dont need to know them any further. Because theyre just some "college hipsters". Its ok, you will grow. Google, "Rap genious" and search for there lyrics and you will realize HOW ILLOGICAL your statement was.
Saying they aren't very good was not a great statement to make. I believe that they do have work that shows they are skilled, but their style is whats holding me back from really enjoying them. It just isn't my thing. I wasn't trying to hate sorry.
