1. DARE curriculum drops pot

KENNEWICK, Wash. -The students who graduated Monday from Kennewick's DARE program will be the last to be taught the potential dangers of marijuana.

Nearly 100 fifth graders at Sunset View Elementary accepted their diplomas after the ten week course, which discourages kids from tobacco, alcohol, and drugs. But DARE officer Mike Meyer says the national dare organization has removed the discussion of marijuana from the curriculum.

"The new curriculum starts as of December for us here in Kennewick. It does not bring up the subject of marijuana at all."

Meyer has been Kennewick's DARE officer for six years. He says he devotes an entire lesson on marijuana.Meyer says he doesn't know why the national parent organization that oversees the DARE program has deleted marijuana from the program.

On Tuesday, Voters in Washington State decide Initiative 502, which would regulate and tax sales of marijuana. If passed, the measure faces a possible court challenge by the Justice Department.

The Washington State Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs opposes the Initiative 502.

MAJOR THUD :hello:

Finally! The end is coming near.

3.
Finally! Then end is coming near.
Definitely in sight.

4. But don't we want the children lied too even more

5. The only way DARE would remove marijuana from it's curriculum is if the Feds quit paying funding for it,,there is some skepticism about this being true because no one can get the DARE people to confirm the statement by one state trooper in charge of the program in WA,,,but if the government is stopping the funding of their propaganda machines on marijuana,,we will see Drug Free America,Calvina Fay and others bowing out of the op-eds they now spread like manure at every chance they get.

If it is true,,then it is the first sign of our government starting to shut down the war on pot,,,a very heavy THUD on prohibition.

6. The only thing I don't understand about this is that they still teach alcohol and tobacco. I would assume their crusade would continue no matter the legality. Either way this is an awesome step in the right direction.

7. Thank god I remember in 5th grade I was brainwashed into thinking marijuana gave you cancer and killed brain cells.

8. Me too, i feel like they robbed me of my youth. I could have been smoking weed when i was offered it in middle school :p

9. Wait, dare being logical?

Maybe 2012 is true

I was wrong, it is nationally.

11. Amazing! Shit is really hitting the fan leaves.

12. The trooper in charge of that district's DARE program:

""But DARE officer Mike Meyer says the national dare organization has removed the discussion of marijuana from the curriculum.

National= entire country

13. Sounds pretty clear to me.

14. But isn't pot dangerous?!
This is awesome though finally making a break through.

15. holy fucking shit

mind blown, I guess it was so unbelievable my mind made half of that up I really misread it, but this is AMAZING.

16. Another progressive step. Eyes are opening! :D

17. A lot of people wouldn't have admited it.

+rep.

18. I'm not wrong often, but I always admit when I am :p

Again, this is amazing news. DARE drops marijuana, 2 states legalize, 1 more medically legalizes, and the ASA vs. DEA hearing is still going on,

now if we can get obama to speak out and leave the states alone...

19. This is some change we can believe in!

FORWARD!
