Dank Oh-zee Goes Indoor

Discussion in 'Indoor Grow Journals' started by dankohzee, Nov 21, 2011.

  1. Definitely watching this.

I know you said only soil, but have you looked into coco? I've seen some great things with soil-less mixes. I have just started using it a month ago, and the feel of it is awesome. I am trying it in a few hempy buckets, but I have seen alleged 'phenomenal' results with soil-less mixes. Worth a look, I think.

Also, I was wondering if you are blowing air through your reflectors and y-ing into the cannon filter above? Are you further extracting air out of the room at some point?

  2. the yield is going to be crazy with what, like 50 plants? this is going to be some major bud porn right here!

Well! These are just as perfectly healthy as they should be! As always Dank, you're results are an amazing display of how green your thumb is! Hit me up when its flower time, cuz I gotta see this go down! One things for sure in this room....NO LEAF SPOT! :D

  4. Thanks man. I have removed the fussy ones from the garden and topped the remainder. Everything I have left is mean and green.

Thanks buddy. I'm looking forward to it too and have been since the age of 11:D

Good to have you along for my maiden voyage ;)

I'm actually using formula 707, which has peat and cocoa. The vortex fan is pulling through the filter and blowing through the hoods, exhausting into the rest of the building to offset heating costs (this is an excellent theoretical method, but since a nearly equal amount of cold air is being pulled into the building, i'm not sure I'm truly ofsetting anything--thanks anyway, hydro store guy, haha!). Fresh air is coming in via an 8 inch active intake, which is powered by duct fan. The intake is dampered to keep out the cold when the system isn't running.

I'm still culling from 38 plants, and will have ten or twelve backups, but I'm thinking the final count for flowering will be 24 plants under 4000watts.

  5. wowee - clean, green, big and beautiful. Are you hauling water in laps around the grow room just to make it feel like growing used to feel

  6. Wow beautiful setup man :) subbed!

  7. At 4 kW I think he's going to be looking at somewhere between 5 - 8 lbs of dankedy goodness when all is said and done. Although with the culling he's doing I could be wrong.

  8. :metal: Hell yeah bro! Your setup is great!!

I might have breezed through it but what containers are you going to use in flower mang?

  9. Thanks doc.

5-8 ell-bees it is! Thanks trublue. I hope thats a guarantee, haha! I would shit my pants if I ever got that much!

  10. PS - Whats your organic soil mix? Any teas, top dressings, FPE's etc?

I'm going to let my final plant count determine pot size, but I'm thinking 5 or 7 gallons--probably five. I have quite a bit of experience using AP pots outdoor, and will use them here as well. I haven't decided which brand, but i'm thinking I'll try square root brand.

Heres something I'm trying to work through. What remains to be done before flowering is to take cuttings from my most promising plants, transplant to flowering container, and flower. I'm not sure what order to do these things or when.

In other words, should I transplant, let the plants adjust, take cuttings, then flip? Or can I take cuttings and immediately transplant and flower? Should I veg for a while in the flowering container? I'm just not sure how to work the timeline. I've been smoking bubba-bubble and may not be making sense, but feel free to make suggestions anyhow.

Oh, I'll be flowering in a mix that has formula 707 as its base. Anyone used it? I have to admit I'm not totally sure what I should use for the final flowering soil. Suggestions? I'm also planning on using the roots organics line and an occasional tea. I'm currently studying living soils and will implement them in the future, but for now I'm still a nube.

The timeline for transplant, flowering and cloning can be done in any order you choose!

You could even take your cuts a few weeks into flowering if you choose.

Me personally, I would transplant into flowering containers let 'em go for a bit, take cuts then flower. But really it's completely up to you! :D Don't know till you grow!

I've never heard of the 707 mix...

Do you follow Stankies journal? When I feel like I want to make the full organic jump that is the direction I will leap... IMO, his plants stand on their own in the organic world. He's got a lot of great blades (LD, Chunk, Possuum, G45, etc) that contribute there. Lots of great info floating around there...

This run I've got going is a synthetic/organic mix... And I'm happy with it to this point! I'll pry play around this summer with full organics on my veggie garden.

  13. I am willing to bet that ole DankO can pull somewhere in the 5lb range on the first indoor operation. What kind of training are you going to be doing? The standard outdoor program you use?

  14. I totally agree with TWB. To make a good clone, I think you need at least three nodes on the branch you are cutting, and you want to get it while it's still green and supple, not woodied. So you can either take cuts of each of your seedlings as soon as they give you say some lower branches with three nodes--but that means rooting and keeping track of probably multiple cuts for every plant before you have culled anything. Or you can transplant and veg them awhile, perhaps decide to cull some, and then take cuts when you are ready to flip to flowering, or like TWB says for 2-3 weeks after you flip.

If you are planning not to cull any but instead to put all those plants into flowering, then there's no real harm in going ahead and taking cuts as soon they give you suitable branches to work with. Taking cuts early has the advantage of, if some don't root, you may still have time to take more cuts before the mother plant is too far into flowering. But it has the disadvantage of, you have all these cuts around you have to pay some attention to, and in the end you might be just dumping a lot of them, if you don't like how the mother plant turns out....

It's really just a matter of what best fits your work flow and space.

I also don't know jack about 707 :smoke:

  15. Hey dank.. Love the new setup. I know you'll rock the shit out of it...

    I've used 707 without problems..

I love the Black gold though..

My hydro store carries the bulk 3cu ft bags of hi-porosity for like $20 usually..

Hi-porosity just means a shit load of perlite already mixed it..

  16. Thanks man. I'll definitely check out his thread. I've been growing organically outdoor for years and have learned a lot, but I'm still in school. I have a good outdoor mix and starter mix. They've helped me to achieve some pretty nice outdoor crops, but I'm pretty much straight outta the bag on this one.

Eventually I'll be playing around with various scrog set-ups, but for now, yes, I'll be using some of cropping and supercropping skills, I think. I know its going to be a jungle of twisted chaos by the time I'm done, haha! I can't stop planting seeds!!

I have several DNA strains--lemon skunk, RKS, and sour cream on the germ mat. I also received some Grateful Casey by connoisseur genetics, but those I'll save for the time being.

    Thanks for a quality post.

I'm familiar with the black gold and agree it's some nice stuff.

'Preciate the help fellas. Especially the input on taking cuttings and timing and such. That helps a lot.

  17. Lolz... "some pretty nice outdoor stuff" dank... You are modest... You've grown some of the most gorgeous bush-trees I've seen. Your doing wonderful.

Twb has got it right... Transplant, give the roots some time to start growing into the new medium then flip... Grab clones before, after, whenever you want really, you could wait for the first bit of flowering stretch and just take em from the wee bottom guys....

  18. Damn Dank, Do you do anything small? What a fucking set-up:hello:. I moved to indoor with my little closet and flourescents and then I find this thread. I'm a week or two away from chopping my girls and super stoked to hopefully get 1-2 z's out of three girls. Dude, you're gonna rock this grow, I'm subbed. Best of luck with everything.

  19. can we say,DANK?!!! :hello:
