Dangers of totally wooden pipes?

  1. Are there any, in terms of toxins and stuff like that? Everyone rages about plastic and different metals and things, but what are the dangers of pipes made totally from wood? And if I were to make one, what would be the best and safest wood to make one out of?

  2. Briar would be safest. You want to use hard woods. Also after a while a carbon cake covers the wood, and you won't taste the woody flavor any more. I have used white oak a few times with great results.

  3. As long as the wood youre using isnt stained, chemical, or wax treated you should be fine. And as stated above, hardwoods are best. Hickory would work nicely youd get the slight hickory taste plus, hickory when warped can be bent back into shape without it breaking so that just shows you how durable of a wood it is.

  4. Following a fireproofing tutorial will help prevent any wood smoke.

From memory just mix some honey and ash into a paste and coat the bowl.

  5. What about Giant Sequoia wood?
