danger?

    is it hazardous to plug a 400 watt HPS into a cheapy light timer?

    Mhm and is that a likely possibility or am I more likely to start a fire some other way

    Make sure its rated for the wattage your running and you will probably be fine. If you have reason to doubt that just spend more to be safe.
