Cycocel, Dosage.

Discussion in 'Advanced Growing Techniques' started by redlock, Oct 22, 2007.

  1. Hey, I've just made the switch from soil to a 40plant nft system. My intention is to straight switch and finally try this SOG method. When I bought the system awhile ago the guy sung high praises of cycocel so i bought some, now I've forgotten the dosage he recommended, and through all my googling i cant find any dosages. I tried 2ml / Litre on a couple of stunt plants and they looked burnt from it while still under a fluoro, so was thinking of toning it back to 1ml/litre but am starting to think maybe 1ml / 2litres.All crap aside, I'm sure there must be someone who knows an appropriate dosage and could spin some helpful info my way, which would be highly appreciated!!! I'm aware of the dangers of using cycocel and withholding periods, just need to know a dosage!!Bigg ups!!!...

  2. This is a bit of an old thread, but you may find this of interest.
"Cloromaquat chloride" or Cycocel 77A (77%) is used to regulate height in flowering plants.
Used to slow elongation in stems experienced with the onset of flowering.
Closer internodes mean short plants that get penetrated by light easier.

I saw this study recently that concluded 500g/l increase THC in a leaf analysis by approx. 15% to the control.
Where as higher doses even dropped the amount under the control plant yield!
It's quite in-depth and worth the read.

After saying that, here's this punters take on it-

3-4ml/1lt which will bonzi way to much.
1ml-2ml/lt is more the norm if you're foliar spraying.
If you add it to the root zone you can safely halve that dose.
It can be added to recirculating nutrient systems right into the tank with other products.
It appears to be the application rather than the time it is applied is what counts.
A much lesser dose of 500mg/lit is required.
The amount you use should suit your strain.
Tall stretchy plants will require a higher dose and visa versa.
There is a secondary effect with Cycocel which allows the plant to initiate flowering by about half a week quicker than it otherwise would.
The effect of Cycocel on a plant will give it claw leaf along with a flush in secondary growth.
It seems to redirect elongative growth into secondary growth. A very good thing!
The higher the dose the more claw leaf. It also turn leaves a dark green.
Neither of these symptom's is anything to worry about.
    (your PH is OK)
Timing-When the 12 hour regime is started.
Lastly a Cycoceled plant can be rejuvenated and the new vegative growth will revert to the old growth pattern.
There is always room for more experimentation with these things. Have fun!
