I just put this plant into flower 3 days ago and am wo ndering if i can trim up some of the lower branches to help make wateri ng it easier. There is also 2 branches in the middleish area that broke during the move that i would like to cut as well. I dont wanna hermie the plant and i know i should have cut this crap on thw bottom off while they were in veg but was away for a month and came back to a monster. Thanks
Plants don't switch to flower as soon as the light cycle decreases -it takes a few weeks for the flowering process to begin. You're safe to lollipop or trim up under her skirt, but I'd recommend doing it over the course of a few nights, not all at once. Also, keep in mind, that once she stretches, her canopy will be at a different height and will have a different density.
I did that to this branch and now its out so far it cant support itself..this one is in veg..what should i do to this branch? Trim it back to a reasonable size or elminate it altogether?
This is my first grow and definitly a learning curve. Kinda wish i didnt start so early in the year..lol
I like it when people cut down tomato cages to fit. Hold up the branches and have someone slip the cage top into your pot; brilliant. I've ne'er done it, but it looks VERY neat.
I lollipop all mine at exactly 3 days after the light cycle switch. I try to give them that 3 days to recover from the stress (if any) of the light switch. I do more than just lollipop though, I taper my trim up into the canopy as well. Getting rid of any big fan leaves that are already in the way or that could potentially be in the way soon. All the pics below are the same plant.. before trimming, after trimming and 2 days later showing how they're reacting to it.
