cutting fan leaves

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Outdoors' started by stickynugs, Jun 7, 2009.

  1. my plants are about 3 feet tall now and the fan leaves are huge!
they are as big as my head.
and my plant is branching out.

my question is.... is it ok to cut the fan leaves off.
or to just trim them down a little and cut the ends off?
i did it on a few of the plants to see what would happen but any
    professional help would be appreciated.

  2. NO DONT CUT THEM?

Why would you? Thats how they absorb light.

  3. why do you have to cut them? fan leaves are the solar panels of the plant

  4. i thought they were blocking sunlight from the branches.
plus some of them had crusty tips a little bit.
but i wont cut any more. i just trimmed them.
some guy told me its good to trim bud plants??

  5. trimming that is well done will effectively let more sun (and air) to more of the plant and boost growth.

so yes, when done properly, trimming is very important

  6. just tie som string around the side branches andpull them away from the plant... slowly work the branches tighten your string ever week or so a little bit at a time..
on another note doin this increases the likely hood of the branch breaking when heavy flowers are present
