Hey sorry I haven't been on recently, I met this really adorable, sweet girl at a new years party and I have been preoccupied with her and school . Anyways, we are goin out on Sunday to the movies but we were gonna just chill in my car for a while and listen to music in the parking lot before hand...which leads me to my question. How long can I have my stereo on and playing (1 click of the key) without my battery dying. With 1 click I can't even roll down my windows but my cd player still works...so it seems to be using a lot less power than 2 clicks which activates the windows, heat, etc and then the battery light on my dashboard lights up. However if it is cold on sunday we might also need the heat... So I was wondering how long I can keep it like that (either 1 click or 2) without starting the car to ensure that my car will start again when I'm leaving. Thanks everyone! hope you guys had a good new years.
?? Lol my battery is fine...I'm asking how long I can keep my stereo (and maybe heat) on sitting in the parking lot without killing my battery
Depends on your battery. If your only on "click 1" then you should have hours of fun. If you need the heat though just turn on the car. Gas is cheaper than getting a tow truck come haul your ass out. Also I hear tow trucks ruin dates.
A long time, don't worry about it your car recharges it when you run the engine. ps: I could be completely wrong, I'm getting higher by the second. And congrats on the girl, I hope it goes well with you two.
If my car is running its not bad for it if Im just sitting there? Like if my car was on for an hour without moving would that harm it or no? Thanks for the responses I appreciate it Thank you, so do I
I'd say a couple hours with the heat and stereo, but be carefull... I do have bad experiences with sitting in a parking lot for too long and having your car battery die... and having to go get the security to jump start your car lol they tend to put a dent at the end of the date ..
Having your car idle is fine. It won't hurt it. Just using the stereo with the car off is fine you can get away with that for several hours. When it comes to heaters or a/c and music thats when its questionable. Then it comes down to specifics like how high the fan is and what temp and what kind of battery you have. I wish I knew the specifics but just be on the safe side idle your car turn off your lights and keep it toasty
This depends LARGELY on what type of car audio system you have. Is it completely stock, or do you have 4 500 watt woofers in the trunk? If its stock, you've got 2 or 3 hours on a full battery at least.
Yea its stock. I was gonna beef up my system but when I went to best buy the cheapest shit i got could for subs, amps, installation, etc came to a total of like $900 Thanks everyone for the help and advice! I appreciate it
you should just leave your entire car on....that way youll just burn a lil gas....cause having your battery be dead at the end of the movie would be such a bitch
Just plunk down the cash on a few extra gallons of gas. Keep the car idling, and you can turn on the heat and be good. Your car will be fine if you're just going to be chilling out for an hour.
best buy i had 2 18's, 2500 rms, all 1/0 wiring, an extra yellow top battery, and about 4 sheets of mdf for my wall build, and it came to 900-1000$. dont go to best buy. anyways you can leave the music on for hours without problems.
