Current/ Future Jobs

Discussion in 'Experienced Cannabis Enthusiasts' started by raaf13, Mar 30, 2010.

  1. I am pretty sick of people who say that people who smoke weed will never get anywhere in life. So, I wanted to see what kind of jobs people have.

I am currently in college, but in just over a year I will be a middle school or high school math and science teacher. I hope to keep smoking throughout my career (I am convinced it has made me a better teacher already) but I intend on growing my own green. Unfortunately teaching might be the worst profession to smoke weed in, due to the fact a lot of people are not down with the herb at all.

    Who else is on here?

  2. Right now, I am working at Starbucks part-time. I just finished up college and got my degree in Web Design, so I'm still looking for work. I'm about to start up on a couple of freelance projects for local musicians :)

  3. Currently im a Full time tree planter, starting a course this fall in Forestry Management.

  4. So. Cal here.

My father owns his own steel company. I work 40 hours a week mon-fri making, great pay. Been here almost 4 years now, im 22 and im usually out by 4pm, which helps my day from not feeling too wasted.

It's a family owned business, at least everyone in the office. I get free lunch everyday, free gas sometimes, i'm on the internet basically all day since I get my work done fast. We have a badass gym in the back and an entertainment system with a bar next to it. Gym and a bar? Fuck sake.

Volleyball and basketball court, we usually play after work but its been raining. Everyone that works here, and in the warehouse knows i smoke so I dont have to take a drug test. The pay is great and i should be getting a raise soon, hopefully that will get me out on my own, despite the house that I'm currently living in is awesome.

  5. I'm an EMT right now, in college getting a nursing degree, then will go to anestetist school after that. I hate being prejudged as a stoner that will get no where :)

  6. I am a disabled artist and potter. I have a kiln and a studio about an hours drive from here, but I don't drive. so my husband drops me off on his commute to work. I am in the process of formulating my own glazes from various chemicals and I am adapting glase recipes to suit my purpose. I have been testing the glazes on pieces I have thrown on the wheel, and it is a waste of time being that they haven't been turning out, so I have stopped while I am shopping/saving up for a test kiln I can test tiles in. I also want to start making jewelry etc, out of silver, bronze and copper. So I need a kiln to fire those too. I also want to do some more print making where the prints are made by carving on a metal plate and putting the plate through an acid bath, but I need to go back ro college to get reaquainted with the process and set up my own studio for that. So, my whole artistic life is on hold until I can save money for the kilns and college. So I have beed spending all my time on the forum here learning about MMJ so I can use it for my disabilities. That pretty much sums it up.

  7. Currently working in a supermarket, it sucks but it was a good job to last through college.

Graduating with a BS in biology soon, continuing my education to get an MS (already accepted :p) and possibly a PhD down the road.

As long as you pass drug tests I don't see why someone who smokes wouldn't get a job.

  8. I work for one of the Big 4 audit firms (I'm not going to say which). It's tough work and I gotta keep my blazing on the downlow (I have never gone into work high, and I doubt I ever will), but I actually enjoy the work and have a lot of good friends at the firm, and during the summer months there's really not that much work so it's nice to be able to relax and go to the cottage.

And the salary ain't half bad either ;).

Currently a college student studying Physics and Math. In about a year I will be starting grad school in Physics. That means I will be working for that university. Probably grading papers/other mundane T.A. work and then probably teaching lab sections for undergrad physics and then teaching undergrad physics lectures. After grad school, I plan to be a scientist in private industry.

And I plan to be growing by the end of this summer.... indefinitely :smoking:

  10. I don't mean to be a dick man, but smoking weed while teaching at a middle or high school isn't a good idea at all.

  11. in my highschool there were a couple teachers who toked and everyone knew it but nobody cared lol they never got in any trouble

  12. currently unemployed, but i am at film school with my focus on cinematography. after i graduate (2013) i hope to move out to california as a large chunk of the film industry is stationed out there. and hopefully marijuana will be completely legal by that time, if not i plan on getting my MMJ card, i actually have pretty bad knee pain from all these years of skateboarding and jumping down big stair sets

At the moment, I'm working on my Business Management degree with a minor in Entrepreneurship and I am currently the shift manager at a reputable bank here in Colorado. I'd prefer to not say which one, but I can tell you they are in almost every city in this state. I work full time on top of my 18 credits hours at college. I make $21.00 per hour and I live in a $1200 per month 2 bedroom condo in downtown Fort Collins. Oh yeah, I'm 19 years old and I smoke every day all day.

    I love bragging :D

  14. future computer engineer then entrepreneur

  15. Currently in school for EMT about to finish up.

  16. I thought some schools don't perform drug tests because the teachers union doesn't allow it?

  17. See, that's what scares me about teaching, it is probably the most restrictive job when it comes to green. I mean I am going to quit before student teaching (in case I have to drop) and definitely before I first get hired. But later on down the road, if I don't have random testing, I would love just to grow a few plants for personal use. Of course I wouldn't tell anybody, since I would get completely screwed if word got out.

If I can't smoke down the road, well I will have to wait until I retire.

Until then, I am going to smoke all I can and live it up. I don't act stupid when I am high, I usually just hang at a buddy's or at my place anyway.

  18. I work part time at Dollarama and Sobey's, probably going to quit Sobey's soon, haven't been getting many hours. Nineteen years old, still not finished high school and still living with parents. Have considered a career in audio production, or opening a business of my own (record store/headshop maybe)

We'll see what happens, but for now my life is at a complete stand still.

    Death or Glory.

  19. last qurater of colllege, graduating w/ a BS in biology. planning on going to med school and hopefully becoming a cannadoc :hello:

  20. Yeah man, I'm going down the same path you are, I'm trying to get my teaching degree. I know the teachers at my high school didn't get tested, because we actually asked a couple, and they obliged. I guess every school is different? But yeah, I'm for sure stopping before getting a student teaching job along with before my first real position.

I think teaching is pretty laid back... We should be fine. :smoking:
