Curing related questions

  1. Main question is why do some strains I have in grove bags have a zingyness to them like spicy but not in a good way....is this typical of uncured bud? That one has been maybe 2 weeks in the grove bag but still not where I'd like it.

My drying tent is one exhaust fan on low and another fan blowing at the tent wall on low. I can't achieve anything lower than 65 degrees but never goes more than 68 and I have humidity regulated between 58-60.

also just had two weak autos hang dry and the buds were basically ready for sweating after 6 days because they are pretty small buds on both plants. I sweat them in paper bags for about a day and they couldn't get any more dry before curing I use a wood moisture meter for that 10-12 percent.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I usually aim for atleast 10 days hang dry 68f/60rh then sweat in paper bags for a day or 2 I just started doing that.....I then check bud moisture and if it's 11 usually I put in grove bags. Should the buds always feel crispy on the outside when putting into grove bag or does that depend on the strain? I have put some in that felt sticky on the outside but read 11-12 on the moisture meter.
My main point of this is to figure out if I'm just smoking the uncured buds too early even a week or 2 in .......hence the weird taste sometimes........kinda zingy. Just want to make sure I'm drying and curing correctly.

  2. Also I had a strain that hang dried for 11 days then into jar for curing and tasted so good almost a few days after that like skimpy sweet diesel.....was real dense though maybe was a good strain. Do some plants taste good sooner than others into curing?

  3. A plant that had a good terpene profile (this would be subjective to your personal taste and liking) will always have a pleasant smell and taste even if you just cut off a small nugs from a living plant, to dry fast for a quick sample. Curing would allow aromas and taste to develop and stabilise, and for preservation.

A plant that have low terps %, weird terpene profile or smell that turns you off won't turn into gold by putting it in a jar. Those rare plant that I won't enjoy smoking could be turn into ice hash or butter.

I don't believe curing improve potency, it's just simple maths, volatile terpene would still slowly escape and thc levels just degrade and reduce over time as well.

  4. Gotcha yeah I some pink runtz autos from Northatlantic seed company and they smell so weird like chemical plant......just kinda zingy...I flushed them as well maybe not enough I don't know. Then have a vanilla frosting that smells and tastes amazing one week into cure. I do the same procedure with every plant so I'm thinking it's the genetics....I have also noticed every seed I ordered from that company that was train wreck X pistachio Hermed from mid to late flower 2 different grows.

  5. There is a taste there.....seems curing could make it go away there for making the bud taste better on its own

  6. find some time and check out the vid here,

I found out many things to correct even for this old stoner 6-6-6 is better than 7-7-7

    good luck
