Curing Discussion

  1. Alright, well what is the proper ideal length for curing your buds and what is the average length most people do? Some people growers cure for a few months. Like 2 months and 6 months. Isn't 2 weeks sufficient? Like how are the buds after they are cured for that long? I'd imagine they'd be pretty dry and with no stickiness. So for that reason I say 2 week cure maximum.

  2. My understanding of above 1 month curing is that there is no rush to use it, leave it there.

  3. They should be dry before start of curing, in the step called...drying. Different from curing.

If I were to guesstimate I would say that about 50% of the full benefit of curing comes during the first two weeks, about 30% of the benefit comes in the second two weeks, and 20% comes thereafter. That's just what it feels like to me, I don't know that anyone has ever measured it.

I treat curing and storing as pretty much the same thing. In other words, I cure with the daily venting of the jars for about 30 days, and thereafter storage of the bud remains in those same jars, and I vent them whenever I remember, a few times a week for continual curing. And it's fine to pinch from day 1 of curing for daily smoke, just might be harsh.

  4. Thanks for the advice.
