Cravings Question. Potheads please come in.

Discussion in 'Marijuana Consumption Q&A' started by formertoker, Sep 26, 2012.

  1. Basically in high school I was an infrequent smoker (about once a month) but afterwards I became a super pothead (at least 3 toke sessions daily) for about a year and a half. Now, since my first year of college was a time of self-discovery, I have realized that productivity and potheadness are not compatible for me. Upon this revelation, I decided to stop smoking immediately so now I've been sober for about two weeks. I still love smoking and getting high but when I am a pothead it is all I think about and I become engulfed by it. I want to return to the irregular amount of smoking I was doing in high school. Is this possible? Or will the cravings overwhelm me and make me return to my potheadness? I'm basically scared to smoke again because I am terrified of becoming a pothead again.

  2. Well if you are truly scared, get rid of all your weed you have left (sell/give away) but one bowl. Then you can smoke the bowl and not have to worry about the immediate temptation of smoking because at least now you have to go drive to get a bag and self control is much easier that way.

  3. Same thing happened to me I quit for sbout a month but I was craving to do it so now I just do a gram a weak and now I'm perfectly fine

  4. I knew a guy had same trouble with french fries. It's all about maturity and self restraint. Be honest with yourself and you can answer this question much better than anyone else. I hope your able to find a happy medium and enjoy what you enjoy.

  5. ^Best answer you'll get.

  6. Thank you I really appreciate this. The hardest thing for me when I was a pothead was to say no to people (I mean who says no to smoking?????) but I've said no to my friends plenty of time these past couple of weeks so I think I am beginning to develop the self restraint you speak of.

The main thing I'm trying to avoid is getting to the point where you need it to sleep. How infrequently do you have to smoke to avoid that?

  7. No idea man I have never noticed many of the side effects people talk about I guess I'm fortunate in this. I don't sleep more than a few hours a day usually to begin with, but I would think something such as this would be very subjective.

  8. I am in the same boat as you it would seem, being a former pothead who made the decision to change for the better. For me, needing weed to sleep was an enormous obstacle. What helped for me is not smoking within 3 hours of going to bed and never smoking two nights in a row.

  9. Thanks man I'm going to give that a shot. Depending on weed as a sleep aid is the main thing that's been turning me away from it lately. That and the mild stigma to it.

  10. use marijuana for relaxation/recreational purposes. Dont be high all the time then you wont be a "pothead". But i love being high all the time!

  11. i know im craving a fatty but thats just cos iv been so poor recently...come to think of it im also craving KFC....mmmmm Friday is gonna be epic

  12. I am stoner college kid too. I wakenbake every morning because weed is my coffee. I will be sluggish and tired without it. i dont bring weed to school except on fridays. it is very tempting to smoke weed at school all day for many reasons lol. right when i get home i smoke then i do homework. smoke another bowl or two an go to sleep. this is the only way i can manage smoking everyday and doing good in school for me

  13. I had the same problem bro. Here's what you do. Go to your health store and buy melatonin. It's a natural supplement that replaces the melatonin your body already produces. It's like a natural sleep aid without all the addicting side affect of actual sleep medication. Then you can slowly stop using both. I still take melatonin it really improves your sleep and shit. But anyways as for your restraint issues I would recommend a girlfriend. Nothing makes you cut down smoking time like some boobies and sugar walls.
