Alright, so i've decided to start growing because the weather is getting better everyday and i've been wanting to grow for sometime. I wanted to start germinating the seeds today, but realized that without something to put them in its kinda pointless. I was going to buy jiffy pots or mediums to put them in, but i don't know which is better for what i'm going for. My plan is to start them inside (maybe even get some CFLs) and then transport them outdoors, but first off, i need to know what to buy, such as fertilizer and such. Suggestions?
solo cups with holes in the bottom are cheap and provide enough room for seedlings to grow for a month or so. I use Seed Starting Mix for starting seed, but you could use regular peat-based potting mix with pretty good success...the only real difference between the two is that the seed starting mix is sieved more finely than regular potting mix. if you do start growing indoors, you will definitely need suitable lighting. 2500 lumen per square foot is a good starting point. CFLs are (IMO) great for vegetating. I use both Daylight and Warm White CFLs with good results.
how long should i leave my plants indoors if i plan on starting them in solo cups in about 1-2 weeks?
