Update About Advertising on Grasscity Important: A New Chapter for Grasscity

Couple of questions.

    I've been planning out my grow for several months now. I want to have 2 rooms, both probably around 3x3. One with cfls, one with a HPS. At first I wanted a 600w hps, and I still do.. but i've started thinking about a 1000w lamp instead. Would that be overkill for 8-10 plants?



    And: I've been reading about people not using appliances for fear of getting caught. Is it me, or does that seem a bit drastic? my computers power supply is 500w, and i have another one that i use frequently thats also 500w. I live with 3 other guys, and I can't ask them to cut back on whatever they want to do...so I'm just wondering if that's really something I should worry about, or if that's just being ULTRA SUPER safe.

    an 1000 watt would be nyce. but try 2 400 watt or 2 600 watt for a more uniform light distribution over ur garden. The more space ur plants have the better.

    electricity shouldnt be an issue especially if ur only using 1000 additional watts.
    i would say thats pretty much the threshold. I say so u dont startle the electric company, get 2 600 watt fixtures and start 1 the first month and wait for the bill to increase, and than the second month add the second 1. I say this only so that u dont have to make an excuse that doesnt seem irrational

    1 600 watt fixture = i just bought a new computer and am still using my old one

    2 600 watt fixture = i just bought 2 computers (seems suspicious to buy 2)

    not the best example but hope i got my point across.

    yeah, its a little drastic
    with all the equipment in our garages, full woodworking & automotive setups including a couple welders ,buying a few more electric heaters with out permission , they should have slapped the cuffs on us all years ago.:rolleyes: it would have to be unreasonable amounts 24/7
