Counterfeit carts may be dangerous.

  1. My friend's lung problems were not "deception". They were very real!

Even the title of your OP in this thread is deceptive. The VAST majority of that crap is flavored nicotine. And rumor has it, even the ones being sold as containing cannabis, in many cases actually don't!

Not sayin' your friend doesn't have a problem - obviously it is widespread now. I just have a problem with the way people are talking about it - especially in the news reporting. Like everything else - deceptive crap.

  4. I don't trust anything that doesn't come from me. Sadly even my acquired ingredients may be genetically altered.

Ugh better get outta here before mental breakdown shatters thru my reality or

There definitely is a problem in knock off cannabis vape cartridges going on, both nicotine and cannabis. I haven't been buying carts anywhere but from a dispensary for years since kingpen and brass knuckles started randomly getting knocked off and it has only gotten worse. I may pay a lot for my carts, but they aren't used that often and I at least know what I am getting, no vitamin E or whatever is causing these problems.

I do agree it is being blown out of proportion by the media but that is what they do. Hopefully this at least makes people think before buying a cart on the black market and trying to know what they are getting

  6. you say " at least I know what I am getting " Do you ? the weed industry always had a fair amount of shady peeps , you think they went a way when it became legal ? the article you linked to even says the one guy in oregon bought from a dispensary "On Wednesday, Oregon health authorities said a middle-aged adult who died in late July of a severe respiratory illness had used an e-cigarette containing marijuana oil purchased from a legal dispensary." Where there is money there will always be dishonest shady people

  7. I definitely trust something that is required to be tested than a random hot dog water cartridge, and yeah I have seen the Oregon story which seems like a bunch of fear mongering, no mention of other vape products the guy may have used or if he tampered with the cart, really wondering how they would be tying it to one specific cart, he probably just had it on him when he died

  8. maybe but required testing still does not stop a greedy disp owner from back dooring some untested products for bigger profit margins. I grow my own and make my own carts and a this point I don't trust the " terps " thinning agents or thickening agents , for safety im just gonna go to a wax pen and then I know 100% whats in my wax pen. No outside stuff is going in the manufacturing process .

  9. Assume all carts not bought from a dispensary are the worst kind of fake because they may just be. Anyone still buying street carts is living under a rock and/or an idiot

  10. That's great but on the W. coast some dispensaries are unlicensed and continue to sell bogus Brass Knuckles Heavy Hitters and many others... But when they sell a full gram 1000mg for a measly $20 you know it's fake... Due to some municipalities not enforcing closings of these unlicensed shops the shops continue to spring up even if shut down weeks or a couple months before... It's crazy.

I stopped doing full on lung hits years ago and only do the "slowly out the nostrils" capillaries absorbing the cannabis, lungs not involved other than traces it appears. The only one i use lately is Delta9 and it has coconut oil in it which can cause the lipoid pneumonia... Best to stick to flower or edibles unless you can make the concentrates yourself.

  11. Yeah I know it is definitely a big problem on the west coast, I am in NJ and the testing is really strict here, carts are a CO2 extracted oil with terps and that's it, I still only use them when out and about but my go to is bong rips of flower, but I take em all the way to the lungs lol

  12. My chest was hurting from vapes. I'm done with them. Not worth the risk.

  13. I hate to say this but your lungs are still 100% involved. That makes absolutely no sense. Theres no way to inhale anything without it getting in your lungs

  14. In case you don't know it, the tiny blood vessels (capillaries) in the nostrils absorb all the "love" you need and the lungs are not touched except by possibly 1% if that of collateral damage.
Why is it that i never cough after tokes? Never have throat burn but when i did do full on lung hits i had a lingering dry cough most days felt lousy?
Do what you want, not as i do but it works for me and i rarely ever use pre-filled vape carts as you never really know what other gunk they have to produce the viscosity and flavor they shoot for.

  15. We're going to have to disagree on this. You can not inhale with out your lungs. Your nose does not inhale it's just a pathway to the lungs which do the inhaling and exhaling out the nose.

I dont cough either taking deep hits. I also dont have shitty weed so I don't have throat burn.

  16. Since you disagee, please explain to me how you are able to inhale with out using your lungs, or only using 1% of your lung. You don't sound like a breathing specialist well versed in human anatomy but you never know. Please explain?

You kind of sound like a freak of nature if this is possible to be honest. The rest of us need our lungs to inhale, a large portion of our lungs.

  18. Could he be saying just suck the smoke into your mouth without inhaling it down , and then blowing it out of your nose, I have done this with cigs before?
But no way you can get all the THC goodness and I feel he is wasting a lot of effects by not bringing it down to lungs.

  19. So, in this Leafly article Vape Pen Lung Disease Has Insiders Eyeing Misuse of New Additives
True Terpenes now claims their Viscosity product has been improperly used. Site updates at TT have tried to eliminate any culpability since Extract Ninja exposed the problems found in lab testing of their Viscosity product back in January, and well beyond.
"Ben Disinger, the company’s marketing manager, told Leafly their leading diluent brand, Viscosity, is “recommend for use in winterized extracts.” (Winterizing means removing the extract’s fats and waxes.)
Disinger said that one recommended use of Viscosity is for diluting THC oil in cannabis balms and lotions meant to rub on the skin, not for ingestion or inhaling. Using such a diluent in vape pens, he said, is not an approved use. Burning or inhaling Viscosity might or might not be harmful, he said, but the company has no data either way."

Yet, they specifically state on their retail page disclaimer that you should avoid contact with skin: WARNING
This product is intended for use only by adults 21 or older. This product is not to be used with tobacco or nicotine products. Consumers should determine and conduct their own safety standards and testing. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes, wood surfaces and fabrics.

Fuck this shit. Marijuana carts have become the fatal bathtub gin of yore.

  20. Everywhere I read, (and believe me, I read a lot!) I have seen people advocating denatured alcohol extractions, or the use of MCT oil for carts, Vitamin E oil for carts, videos showing how to fill carts with diluents that no person should ever inhale.
Many old threads have very bad science, but it takes just one advocate for a method to put a lot of this info out there and it snowballs into a nightmare trend....
These same people are now deleting their "scary science" left and right, while others are scoffing at the dangers, and defending their bad science, as though death from mj is some "guvmint conspiracy"... (it's not the mj, stupid)

When "legit" suppliers can't get their shit straight... and proper vetting and testing of product is an afterthought, the process has failed.
