Could consciousness operate like a TV/radio broadcast?

  1. A signal is sent out to a physical object to give us a broadcast that we see and/or hear. If the object is damaged, the broadcast will come out differently and usually sub-optimally (i.e. like a human receiving a blow to the head and having subsequent neurological/psychological changes) or not at all (i.e. death).

And yet, the physical TV/radio is not the source of the broadcast, but just a conduit for it to take visual/auditory form.

I'm atheist but this does make me think that we don't know for sure that our physical being is the ultimate source of "us" so to speak.

  2. Not only is that possible, it is considered quite plausible by plenty of experts in their respective fields.

Notably David Bohm and Karl Pribrams work.

Here is a fairly bland but informative documentary on this very idea.

That is part 1 of 4

  4. Dangerously similar
We can tune ourselves to hear the music and see the greater picture as well. Just in a different way :p
