Cost of running light ? Are my calculations wrong??

    So if i ran a 400 watt hps light at 12 hours a day. I looked at my bill and it said i get charged 7.16 per kilowatt. So 400 divided by 1000 is .4. .4 x 7.16 is 2.86 an hour? So its 34.36 a day to run in my area? I cant find that correct if people say it takes average 20 a month to run a 400 watt hps. So where did i go wrong in my calculations???

    Dude a power supply in a computer uses around 400W and your bill isn't $400 now, is it?

    ill try to help anythony out... you made a crucial mistake in your math my friend

    its 400watts * 1/1000 * 12 * .0716 (7 cents...) = .34 so 34 cents a day...

    about 10 or so bucks a month more... but u need more than a light !

    400w x 12hours = 4800w (4.8kilowatts) per day
    4.8Kw x 7 cents = 33.6 cents a day ($3.36 for 10 days)
