Should I put the lid on the tote (kinda air tight, just a Walmart tote) or should I leave it off? I just don't want it to go anaerobic CeeJah (1st Time Grower)
For my cooking cans (32 gal trash cans), drainage holes in the bottom are a must to avoid anaerobic conditions. The lids may or may not get some holes (they don't fit all that tight). Water is the catalyst for everything involved with cooking/cycling and I make sure everything is very thoroughly moistened, just short of soggy. It's gonna drain and I leave them outside or suitable place for several days to a week till they get done. Then, either left outside (warm weather), or moved into the garage if it's gonna freeze. Yea i always think about that especially when im storing EWC or compost for couple months. I got couple totes with air holes drilled on the lids. Another thing ive done before when i lost a lid was just draped an old T Shirt or rag or whatever on the top just to keep gnats away. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
