Cooking cannabutter in air tight jar

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by EastBayFire510, Feb 18, 2013.

  1. Would cooking cannabutter in an air-tight jar be safe? I plan on leaving the cannabutter inside the jar while inside a pot filled with water on a low-boil for a couple hours. I just want to know if this would work before I try it....

  2. I do not have experience, but I had a similar question, and dis is what the fool told me...

take the lid off numba wun

    boil yo wata numa too

fold up an oven rag that be used for grabbin them hot plates into four pieces

put dat rag onna bottom ova pot

den you gon put yo jar on that rag

apparently it done stop the bubbles from knockin yo shit

  3. As long as its a canning jar it will be fine. 1620's (comical) advice about the rag is solid. It will keep the jar from falling over. But you can leave the lid on as there is no desire to boil off any liquid.

Canning jar in a crockpot of water is a tried and true method. Been done many times here on GC.

  4. My only concern with that jar is the rubber seal. I don't know if it would melt in the heat.

  5. I wonder if air pressure changes could make the jar explode

  6. That's what I'm worried about...

  7. Just get a standard canning jar. Cheap and available anywhere. Works great for what you want.

  8. Alright, I'll go buy one later on today. You sure it won't explode on me..

I would keep checking around before you go through with this man, i havent heard of this method. If youre worried about smell, if you have a grill just cook the butter outside on the grill. Ive done it many a time, even when my parents were home

  10. Part of the canning process is putting the jars into boiling water, no they won't explode.
