Converting vinyl to mp3?

  1. Does anyone know how? I know it's possible but I have no clue how. I want to add my vinyl collection to my itunes library.

  2. There are a couple of ways to do it, though the basic operation is similar. There are some USB-connected turntables one could get (example) and the other is to use your computer's line-in/mic connection and use a program like Audacity to record the audio. I haven't tried it personally but that's the method.

If you're recording vinyl, I'd recommend AAC over MP3, which is Apple's proprietary format that retains better sound quality per space than MP3. If you have the space, FLAC is a good option for keeping the best quality.
