constant harvest with a twist for 30% more light effeciecy

  1. A while back I saw a post with a guy on overgrow who had a micro grow and used a 70watt for the first 2 weeks then went to a 100 watt for weeks 3-4 then a 150 for weeks 5-6 then back to the 70 for the last week (at lest its close to that). Now this was all in one box with 2 plants changing the lights. He yielded 130g with average watts of 101 and it wasn't hydro, it was just organic soil. Its just the fat that the grower realized plants don't need 70 watts of light per square foot while going to flower but they do need it as they get around 4-6 weeks into flower.

I was thinking why no not use this great idea in a constant harvest setup with a ~2 week gap between batches and the lighting distance and wattage varying across the room. Minimal you would need a 2.5' deep X 5' long x 3' tall dresser, or box if you aren't going stealth. Set it up with all the screens modular being 2.5'x1' and have them on rollers on tracks so you can push them down the line. Have a veg box first with a 100w mh. Then have HPS lights for flower starting with a 70w, then a 100w, then a 150w, and then a 70w.

Now this could be used 2 ways to make a nice super efficient stealth setup for you guys in apartments or a home grower that doesn't want to get a big electric bill while still getting lot of buds. Or it could be applied with a 400-600-1000-400 watt setup if your in it for the money and going commercial and have yields equal to a 4000w grow using only 2400w. And you don't need to stop at one light per week you could have 4'x8' groups with 2 600w bulbs over each group for the peak weeks of flower and only one per group for the first and last weeks of flower.

You don't need to have different wattage bulbs if you have the height. For example woody could set up his grow room for this by getting rid of a light at the end and beginning of flower. Spread the lights out and move them higher to cover more plants, but leave the lights how he had it while in weeks 4-6 of flower.

It all makes sense when you think about it, does a plants 1 week into flower really need 50-80 watts per sq foot just to switch from veg to flower? This system is just to give the plant what it needs, when it needs it. And it saves you electric and money.

If I ever get the space or place to do a grow like this I will give it a try, im already partially there because I have a 7w and a 150w I just need a 100 and another 70 and im ready to go once I get a place. But until then im going to have to stick with my outdoor growing.

  2. all i have to say is...... 130g from a 70w:eek:

  3. no it uses a 70 for the first 2 weeks then a 100 for weeks 3-4 then the 150 for weeks 5-6 then 70w for 7-8 average ~110 watts. still its dam effecient.

  4. yeah, still a good harvest...... but why waste the time switching all the lights, why not just use the 150 all the time?

  5. like he said, electricity bills, efficiencey etc. all that stuff.

  6. im not saying to switch the lights its a constant harvest with the diffrent lights across teh grow room in sages. You just push from one end and move the whole group down at once then add in the new group every 2 weeks after harvesting the last group. total watts is 390 while in flower but it will yeild a close to a 600w

  7. ohhhhhhhh...... i seee..... so hes harvesting like every 2 or 3 weeks and puts the plants under different light settings for each stage...... make much more sence now:D

need to try and find that thread on OG.:D
