  1. Hey everyone. Tomorrow I'm going to have six months sober from everything. I was never using any drugs other than ganja to begin with but I was starting to get out of control. Now I've moved from New York to Ohio (I know, wtf) and my life is back together.

I want to smoke bud again, though. I feel like I can control it because when I think about bud right now it doesn't fill me with the urge to smoke like it used to. I've learned a lot about myself as a human being and I feel like maybe I can give it another shot.

What do you guys think I should do? Any advice from people who've gone through something similar is welcome.

  2. I say burn an L to celebrate the ending of your T-Break. What's the problem? It's not like if you start smoking again you'e entitled to be an everyday smoker, again.

  3. @Adam Bomb I suppose so. I'm just really, really scared of losing control again... I mean what if I start skipping class to get high again and stealing bud from people again... I know that's some dirty shit and I don't wanna be that person again. Any thought processes that help any of you prioritize and remember what's important and then do it?

  4. If you think its gonna make you do those kinds of things then it probably is but if you deep down think you can have self control then go out buy a gram and roll up a joint.

  5. If you have no faith in yourself, and don't think you can do it then you probably can't.

  6. Holy shit we posted at the same time and said the same thing pretty much. EPIC!!! Are you baked because i certainly am. :smoking:

  7. Smoke closer to the end of the day when all your chores/errands are done. Like make a list of everything you need to do that day, when everything is crossed off, enjoy yourself, like a reward for being productive. When the work is done, relax a bit- it feels more fulfilling than if you shirked responsibilities to get high instead

And get high only when you have an hour or two to kill with no appointments or anyone relying on you or anything of that nature

    Trust in your own strength

  8. Good for you, man! It's really great to take time to get to know yourself as a person.

So, what do I think you should do? Well, it's not for me or anyone else to say--you have to decide whether or not you can keep things under control this time. For most people, it's just a matter of growing up and learning how to apply the principle of moderation to everything. For some, nothing--and I mean NOTHING--can be used responsibly. If they're not drinking or using drugs, they're overeating, or exercising obsessively, or spending all day playing video games, or blowing every paycheck at the casino.

^^^If this describes you, it's probably best to wait until you've matured a bit and can break out of the pattern of extremity. If you're confident in your ability to moderate yourself and your habits, go right ahead and enjoy some herb.

Do the drug, don't let the drug do you :smoking:

  9. dude to be honest, i wouldnt. if your stealing and skipping class for bud, then you probably are predisposed to have substance abuse problems

  10. @Hibodharma thanks a bunch, dude, that sounds like a really good idea... actually in the past few months I've been using the checklist system and it really helps me get everything done.

@ForYouBlue I have gained an enormous level of maturity over the past few months... I mean I've noticed that I can pull myself out of procrastinating homework and stuff... even before I started on the herb I was always avoiding things I needed to do by watching TV or playing video games and whatever. I haven't really done that recently.

Conclusion: I'm gonna wait until my final exams are over - which will be next week. After that I'm gonna see if I can get lit up by one of my buddies and we'll see how things go for two weeks. If I start slipping even a little with chores around the apartment or going to work, I'm going to stop for good - that will be the ultimate proof to me that I can't do it safely. Thanks for your help everyone, if anybody has anything else to say though, I'm all ears.

  11. Um what? You really needed to get high that bad? Those problems are wayyyy deeper than just the bud

I say this, you are a grown @ss person. Do what you want if you can afford to do it. If smoking weed again isn't going to get you fired from your job, have your significant other leave you, or burn a hole through your pocket (no pun intended):smoking: then do it. I mean don't smoke in front of any kids or anything but enjoy your life. You do live in OH. Plus anything in moderation is okay.

  13. I also happened to be going through some really tough shit at that point... that would roughly be what I meant when I said I took time to get to know myself. Those pressures are pretty gone.

  14. Good choice, it will be a much better high celebrating when exams are over, when there is less stress from school

Just enjoy it once in a while, maybe every weekend or second weekend- keeps your tolerance low, so you save more bud but still can get pretty high- university students like us need to save every dollar:hello:good luck

  15. @hibodharma - hell yeah we need to save money. Tell you what - I'll burn some dank down with a friend I really trust next week and tell you guys how it went - before, during, and in the days after the blaze (cool a rhyme).

  16. Hey everyone. I went out and smoked after I got an opportunity to do my finals early. It was amazing and it's been almost a week since I last posted here. Things are going well - I haven't lost control of anything. I'm still cleaning my apartment, doing lots of sober stuff like playing the guitar and catching up on art news (which will be important for next year - I'm an art major). It feels really different than I did last time - I have no trouble amusing myself without smoking bud now - whereas six months ago it was the only thing on my mind.

It's weird - I have never been a religious person but I do believe that there is a Higher Power out there... praying has really helped me. Every day I ask for the serenity to get done what I have to and never forget my priorities - it's worked.

Thank you all for your advice.
