Considering quitting....

Discussion in 'Experienced Cannabis Enthusiasts' started by im the weedman, Mar 13, 2005.

  1. I've been smoking for years now, and all last night I couldn't stop thinking...

Do I really need weed? Is my life so bad that I need to be high in order to enjoy myself?

The answer is no. I mean, my life ain't perfect, but I constantly find myself taking everything for granted. I will get home, and the first thing i want to do is smoke a bowl. I get so caught up in selling/smoking/anything related to herb. I take advantage of my parents in order to get high. Weed has turned me into a dickhead in a sense, and that ain't me.

I feel I have come to a point in my life where I need to be sober and focus. I need to realize that the reason I go to school is to better myself and get educated, not to sell weed all day and say "fuck work." I need to get my shit straight. Don't get me wrong, i still love Mary Jane. But there's a time when you have to realize that you can't live high 24/7. You can't make a career out of selling drugs.

So, for now I am breaking up with Mary Jane. Maybe I'll get back with her one day, but for now I feel sobriety is the best for me.

    Any comments/stories/encouragement is welcome.

  2. The answer is balance, and that's something that everyone has to find on their own terms. I wish you luck on the journey, and when you find it you'll understand. :)

Marijuana is the sixth sense that makes the other five more enjoyable, but the key to all of us that have been smoking for years (10 years for me) is that we use marijuana to further enhance our lives and we have respect for it. It takes awhile to find that balance I think.

  3. well it's good that you know where your priorities should be, but that doesnt mean that you have to completely stop enjoying sweet ole maryjane...

i came to the same conclusion as you when i used to smoke all day everyday. i realized i wasnt really getting anywhere and i was losing motivation. i quit smoking for a few weeks and then i started to just smoke occasionally-- and AFTER i'd completed my days tasks...

your brain is ment to function sober, not under the influence of anything. sure, some people can be high 24/7 and do fine, but everyone is different. the best idea is to save smoking until the end of the day. besides, would you get up and start drinking all through the day? have some appreciation for mary and you'll be able to enjoy it even more...

  4. i realized that i can't let it get in the way of being able to create a living for myself. i cut down a lot, but i can still enjoy it regularly. if you have balance it's all good.

  5. Its very good that you realize you cant balance your shit the way things are going and your looking to change that. Thats impressive.

    Just keep your priorities straight

  6. do what you gotta man if ou really wanna go through with it stop comming to this forum and rid yourself of the temptation

  7. You dont have to stop coming to the forum.

  8. Of all people who I've known that have quit, quit for really stupid or illogical reasons.

Though it seems as if you've got good reasons to quit. And you should be glad that you quit because you want to, not because you have to.

And good luck with your education by the way. Give it all you got, it'll be fucking worth it.

  9. You don't have to quit to solve these problems. Just rearrange your priorities, don't do anything lame to other people and probably stop selling and you will probably be alright. You can still enjoy herb though, just use self-control and be smart about it. No need to quit flat out unless you're being regularly tested or something. Maybe I'm wrong... but it's something to think about.
