Considerations on American life 200 years ago vs. now...

Discussion in 'General' started by Hello there!, Sep 7, 2013.

  1. I was thinking.. nowadays.. when's the last time you went an hour without seeing an electric light source? Used an electric fridge? Went a week without driving your car? How did that affect commercial business? Communication (personal, business, government)... was the U.S. really as united as our history books tell us, and how it feels now with the internet? Maybe that's a stupid question >_>

And of course, people from other countries are welcome to share their thoughts with their respective origins :)

Of course it wasn't the same lol. They didn't refrigerate shit they used Iceboxes. Look it up it was actually pretty smart compared to 200 years before that. I wouldn't really care if you took all the electric and shit from me.. I would care but I would have been able to survive like a mofo back then. Put me in the wild and I'll just turn in to a God damn animal straight instincts. I'd be fuckin up squirrels and fish with my bare hands shit.

Nah but for real I hunt sometimes I fish sometimes. I've camped. I could survive right now if I were dropped in to the wilderness I've taken survival training multiple times. I was in the scouts homie I can light fires with my hands and a stick I've done it a few times. They didn't have it so bad at least they didn't have asshole cops walking around beating people, random people getting hit by cars, people getting shot, assholes cutting you off and making me go ape shit in traffic. But then again no porn, women wear long dresses, hairy puss. Actually fuck living back then. But Americans they did drink beer for every meal during that time period, even breakfast. SO I don't know. I would rather live in the present but life wouldn't be that bad 200 years ago. I would probably kill a lot more people, with the lack of DNA testing and shit.

Idk. I'm high and I'm drinking I tried to contribute sorry if I went off topic

edit: I don't think it would affect business that much. All major cities are built on a water way for a reason. L.A. San Fran NYC way back when it was mostly water that was used for major transportation like that. That's why Cities are built by water ways. Even small towns I've seen they're almost always built on by a river or creek.

  3. lets start a klan

  4. Lets do it I meant what I said about fucking up a squirrel with my hands. I've killed a seagull with my bare hands and ate it with my buddies when I was stoned no lie. I could survive in the wilderness no problems.

  5. We stole a deer out of some dudes garage and ate it too lmfao we put it in the back of my buddies pick up and cut it in half, skinned it and cooked it in one of the hog roasters. So I'm pretty crafty. I'm pretty much like an animal but I look human.

  6.
Yeah thats badass but i got something to top that. I killed a peacock with a knife that i threw at it. Fuckin crazy was with my friend and we were high and theres peacocks by his house. So I saw one and threw a knife at it as a joke... It stuck in the peacocks neck and it flew 5 feet into someones backyard. We saw it die. Was gonna skin it for the fur but the guy ran into his backyard lol

  9. Word. I'll trade fish for weed guys. Then I can fish stoned. :smoke:

  10. That would actually be really chill right now. I wonder how pissed my fiancee would be if I woke her up to drive me to a lake right now lol

But I will try to be serious if you want to talk about 200 years ago. Most likely I would be living in florida and would be more darker and more spanish (my family really has been there since the early 1800's, anscestry.com) probably fighting off indians and most likely drinking hella moonshine. I often look up random shit like that I know where you're coming from. Like I wonder what town I would have been like, how would we have survived, our "culture" I guess you would say. America is a giant melting pot of culture and they're all mixed up now. We lost touch with most of our old school cultures.

    It's crazy!

And I'm sure there are even countries where life has barely changed. Although we probably won't find a direct source on GC

  12. Right? Lol if they have the internet I doubt they're living like they did back then. But do you have Netflix? I could recommend something I seen there's a few documentaries of indigenous tribes that live like they did for the past 250-500 years.

  13. Dude I looked it up one time and I'm pretty sure seagulls are inedible..... If your a pretty good pouncer too, no problems there  :smoking:

  14.
    I don't. I need to get it. O_O

Gotta set up that direct deposit..

  16. ALL THIS TALK IS MAKING ME CRAVE BACON

  17.
Well I'm pretty sure the butcher's sleeping.. I'm sure he'll be up with the sun. Last I heard, he was getting low on lamp oil; I bet he'd offer up a nice bunch of bacon in exchange for some!

  18. Give him some extra virgin olive oil... Works about the same

  19. Seagull is definitely edible lol. I know you hear this a lot but it actually did taste like chicken but a lot more chewy.
