Has there been a consensus on what would cause plants to start pointing their fan leaves upwards towards flowering? I've heard all sorts of explanations ranging from rootbound, to mag deficiency, to not enough light, to them just being plain happy. My girls have started to point their fan leaves more and more upwards the past few weeks and wanted to get to the bottom of it. No other problems with the plants that I know of. Nothing wrong with that, they're only doing they're job as fan leaves at that stage, as they do outside in a natural environment and protect the buds
I understand what phototropism is, what I'm trying to figure out is why during some grows this is much more pronounced than others.
Your plants are fine. The leaves grow that way naturally. When they mature to full size, they will drop lower but they need to grow more stem first.
Awesome, just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing anything wrong. This is the first grow that I've noticed this happening this significantly, but I also switched to a new nutrient line this grow (Elite Nutrients + Mammoth P + CalMag + Hydroguard).
I always thought that this was a sign of a happy plant. All mine were like that, looking sexy af, until I over feed them lol. Oops
It's a form of heat regulation and is perfectly natural...This means you have a responsive plant...Attached is a research screenshot from butterflies...This knowledge is used in solar farming and plant studies... Pointing up means it wants to maintain it's current heat...But that reduces light intensity...So ideally in artificially generated environment you would want to increase incident light thus try to reduce temperature by few degrees by trial and error without stressing..
