Connecticut Grow - 3 plants in 5 gallon buckets

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Outdoors' started by TheHumanTwig, Jul 30, 2012.

  1. Hey guys, I finally got to upload some pictures of this bagseed that I started. They went into the buckets on June 8th, and these pictures were taken on the 7th week.

First of all, how am I doing? Are they looking okay?

The biggest one is about 2 feet, and I think the smallest is around a foot.

Any input at all would be greatly appreciative. I still have no idea when these will flower. I've read that the hours are 12/12 on September 25th in my area if that helps at all.

Also, what would be the yield of something like this? What can i do to increase yield? (Keep in mind, very small budget)

New to growing, so I hope you guys can help a brother out. :D
Also - Feel free to ask any questions, i'll be checking this every few hours since I have no life

    All pictures are here :)

  2. how much sunlight do they get? are you feeding them nutes??

  3. They get probably 8+ hours of sun every day. The soil I was using was from Walmart, unsure of the brand. The plants don't seem to mind it though.

Also I'm not currently adding any nutes, just plain old water.

  4. No pros on here can help me out? maaannn

  5. they look good, i use buckets as well and i have a few plants the same age as yours (and they look simalar) except different soil (i use my own compost/manure/native soil mix, and organic teas)

the middle plant is showing signs of magnesium def., but it's not that HUGE of a deal, at this point i wouldn't even try to change anything... LITFA rule...

  6. Thanks man, what makes you think the middle one has magnesium deficiency? Just curious!

But I shouldn't worry too much about it? thanks.

  7. on the two newest set leaves, the darker colour around the outer edge, tell-tale signs of it...

    this comes in handy :)

  8. Thanks for that chart.. I'll put it up on my phone next time I check on them in a few days.

Also, these are Indica plants I'm assuming? Atleast Indica dominant according to the leaf shape? Kinda curious as to why they grew so tall instead of bushy. I've read that sativas are tall like these plants and not as wide.

  9. Dude nice I'm jealous, always wanted to grow but haven't had the right life circumstances

  10. Thanks man, this is my first grow basically beyond failed germination.. started out with 8 but I think slugs chewed the top off 5 of them within a week :( should have used the copper tube method.

  11. How often do you water?

  12. I water them pretty often. Usually 4 days at the most they'll go without water. It's been rainy last week. It actually rained the night before those pictures were taken, and it was starting to sprinkle when i was leaving my spot.

Can anyone answer the questions in my original post? :)

  13. Not many people try and answer yield questions coz its so hard to tell. If you aim for 2oz per plant and be happy with any more than that.

Outdoor plants tend not to need 12/12 most will flower at 14/10 or before depending on strain.

The stretching you see could be due to lack of light. However it might just be a hybrid which has kept some of the vertical growth traits.

They look good and healthy to me tho brother. Just goes to show you can get decent results on the cheap.

For improving yield I'd look at getting some high phosphate high potassium fertilizer (thats the P and K parts)

Sulphate of potash and superphosphate are the UK versions of these but any low nitrogen nutes will do.
    Peace

Thanks man, I'll plus rep you when I'm not on my phone haha. Yeah I'd be very happy with 2oz per plant.. hoping they're females though.

Will they spread out and fill in a bit more you think? seem thin to me.

  15. Yeah for sure man. We still got time and once they start flowering they gonna have a growth spurt!
    Peace

  16. Ah well that's very good news! I was hoping they'll reach 3 feet :hello:

But we'll see I guess! Anyone else care to give me some tips, I'll keep this thread updated with pictures as time progresses as well :D

  17. They are definitely going to start flowering in the next two weeks or so, give or take a week.

  18. Yeah hopefully soon! Been praying for females every night :p

Week 8 started today, i'll take some pictures the next i visit them :D

  19. cool lil grow bro. what strains are you growing btw?

  20. Since this is my first grow, it's only bagseed so I have no idea what the strain is though. The leaves look like an indica of some sort but who knows for sure!
