http://alternativemediasyndicate.com/2014/12/18/did-congress-really-just-end-the-federal-ban-on-marijuana/ Very interesting stuff
Someone claimed the Republicans would not let something like that happen. The GOP may be taking a serious gamble by trying to attract other voters outside the socially conservative sects. I would like to see them take the lead and do a Rand Paul on weed.
The Republicans are caught between a rock and a hard place. On one hand, they need the anti-weed religious Right, but on the other, they claim to support state's rights. So which side do they favor in the debate? More and more Republicans, the author of this post included, have become much more Libertarian in their views. Rand Paul is a perfect example. While he does not personally favor it, he thinks the government has no business telling people what to do, or not to do. Both national parties are being controlled too much from the fringes and we the people are stuck in the middle.
But is what else that's in the bill worth the trade off? Congress are sneaky fuckers and they add crazy shit into bills that would never get passed. And they added the cannabis laws into the bill to shift focus from what else is really in the bill and what they're expecting people to ignore or willing to trade it for. If they really want to stop the DoJ they have to do what they did with the 21st amendment. The states already have their own laws that nullify the need for this law and this is just congress playing cat and mouse as usual and covering up their inept ability to police states on these matters period. Congress is still clinging to the idea that they have control over what people buy or sell or consume in states that already passed laws saying its OK. This is a states rights issue and this law is a slap in the face to those rights. https://cannabis-seed.us/did-the-u-s-senate-just-pass-another-worthless-law-regarding-cannabis/
That's good news to me!!! In my mind, it means that weed is one step closer to being legal!!!! Haha solid!!!!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
They did not end the ban of mmj. Is it still a schedule 1 drug. So it's still banned. They passed a budget that doesn't have money for enforment. Big difference The pot heads will read what they want to read.
I am a little older. I tend not to lump my self into that group. I like to refer to my self as the pre internet generation.
They make a huge profit off enforcing the laws through asset forfeiture. Why would they just stop when the laws are still the same?
