Computer Upgrade Question

Discussion in 'General' started by Tumble, Aug 14, 2006.

  1. I really want to upgrade the processor.. because it seems to be running very slow for a while now.. its a intel pentium 4 3.0ghz processor.. im curious how good amd is or what proccessor i should get... and is there anyway you can run 2 processors at once so itll run faster??

you may question my knowledge on computers with my previous questions.. but i am pretty good with computers just not the hardware

  2. Maybe you have a virus or spy/ad ware. hmm lol im baked and things.

  3. nah dude . i jsut run a lot of sturff at once.. but i always have like atleast 300 free mb of ram.. i have a gb of usable.. i have no spyware

  4. Well if you go AMD, you'll need a new motherboard as well... so stick Intel unless you basically want to just build a new computer

  5. Dude, 3ghz? shit, im runnin 1.6..you should just reformat..

  6. amds chips always seem to run better and faster, the new pentium chip, the newest one in development will be kick ass tho. cant remember the name of the chip. go with an amd 64 bit, i love mine.

  7. what are you using the tower for? buisness? gaming?
dont go get a dual-core if you're gaming at all. duals can only take so much between the parting of occupancy. other than that, go for it if you can afford it.
if your mother board is supporting an intel atm, you might want to check compatability for an amd. personally, i like amd better, but intel seem to be the generic brand for alot of these pre-built systems out. there are a few dual prosessor mother boards, but they usually cost a few bucks.
if you know what your doing in the bios, you can always over clock, thats what i did, but then you'll need a cooling system. some poeple think OCing is a waste of time, but, some just like to get more for thier buck.if you change the cpu...same goes for the ram, you probably knew that already though.
    good luck man.

  8. get an amd dual core... best shit handsdown.
