I have a Macbook Pro that runs both Mac and Windows Vista (I only use Vista to play games). If i'm on Vista and it goes to sleep, sometimes it won't wake up. On the Mac side, I just press any key and it wakes up again, but with Windows nothing works. I've tried everything and the only thing I can do is hold the power button until the system is forced to shut down, but when I do that I get the "windows did not shut down properly" screen upon next login, and 9 times out of 10 that leads to the infamous black screen, and I have to reinstall Vista and all my games from scratch. So in other words, if Windows goes to sleep it's destroyed. Any ideas? Anything I can do to prevent this from happening? Needless to say this is a very frustrating problem.
Well right now i'm downloading a few pc game torrents so I need to leave it on Windows with the lid up until they're done.
Well you could tell it not to go to sleep but just turn off the monitor or whatever. So long as the computer is not in hibernate or the HDD doesn't stop spinning you should be OK. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/disable-power-management-on-windows-vista/
