Computer fan?

    When using computer fans do you have to have those expensive power supplies or can you just use the small AC/DC cord adapter that basically powers everything electronic?

    Computer fans take 12v DC, so any adapter that outputs 5-12v DC will probably be fine.

    Use a matching or higher rated power adapter.


    If the fan is 12v and 3.5ma use an adapter rated for 12v and 3.5ma or higher.

    Well, running a 12v fan @ 7v will just make the fan run slower/quieter, and the chances of his computer fan pulling more then 100ma (what even the smallest adapter will supply) are nearly non-existant. But whatever, I'm sure you are the one with the degree in EE ;-)
