Does it matter if I have my compost in a mesh bag when brewing tea or can i just dump it in the bucket and still get a nice community going? I think the guy i bought it from said to keep it in a mesh bag so that they have something to latch onto thats clumped together but i see the guy from KiS organics just dumping it all in the bucket with their brewer.
this fight nearly caused a civil war with us believe me ..use the bag the guys back west use a painters? strainer bag? many vids on YT to guide you but the deal is a really big air pump or use half the water good luck
Tea bags really reduce surface area and thus microbe reproduction. Best bet is to dump it all in, and then strain it out when you're done if you need to send it through irrigation or something. Listen to Tad at KIS, he definitely knows how to brew a proper compost tea. P-
Thanks. I'm just going to dump it in now. I already brewed one batch with the mesh bag from a place that makes brewers but then i had this bag full of bubbled compost and fish hydrolysate in the winter. guess i should have just dumped it in with my plant but i'll just eliminate that step and see how it goes.
I have a microscope, but i'm too lazy to use it. within a day of applying my first tea my entire plant perked up. Within a week it was a lush green. too much nitrogen in my soil i guess because i havent fed in 3 weeks and it's still green. problem with that is i am about to harvest. lesson learned though, use it before flower not during. this is my first grow.
You use a recipe and technique that is tried and true and produces predictable outcomes. I would recommend microbeorganics.com. hth, P-
